The sons of Levi, Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
] Which is repeated from ( 1 Chronicles 6:1 ) for the sake of their posterity, whose names are given in the three following verses, in the same manner as in ( Exodus 6:17-19 ) .

14 and `Azaryah became the father of Serayah, and Serayah became the father of Yehotzadak;

15 Yehotzadak went [into captivity], when the LORD carried away Yehudah and Yerushalayim by the hand of Nevukhadnetztzar.

16 The sons of Levi: Gershom, Kehat, and Merari.

17 These are the names of the sons of Gershom: Livni and Shim`i.

18 The sons of Kehat were `Amram, and Yitzhar, and Hevron, and `Uzzi'el.
