5 Mas no oyeron ni inclinaron su oído para convertirse de su maldad, para no ofrecer sahumerios a dioses ajenos

Jeremiah 44:5

But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear
To the prophets sent unto them; to God by the prophets; to the words of his mouth, particularly to the above pathetic expostulation with them; at least, if they heard the words said, they did not attend unto them; they had not such an effect upon them, nor were they wrought upon by them, so as to turn from their wickedness, to burn no incense to other gods;
to turn from their sins in general, and from their idolatry in particular; one instance of which is given, and which is put for the whole of idolatrous worship.

3 a causa de la maldad de ellos que cometieron, haciéndome enojar, yendo a ofrecer sahumerios, honrando dioses ajenos que ellos no habían conocido, vosotros, ni vuestros padres

4 Y envié a vosotros a todos mis siervos los profetas, madrugando y enviándolos, diciendo: No hagáis ahora esta cosa abominable que yo aborrezco

6 Se derramó, por tanto, mi saña y mi furor, y se encendió en las ciudades de Judá y en las plazas de Jerusalén, y se tornaron en soledad y en destrucción, como hoy

7 Ahora, pues, así dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: ¿Por qué hacéis tan grande mal contra vuestras almas, para ser talados varón y mujer, niño y mamante, de en medio de Judá, ¿para qué no os deseáis remanente
