Levítico 12

1 Y habló el SEÑOR a Moisés, diciendo

2 Habla a los hijos de Israel, diciendo: La mujer cuando concibiere y diere a luz varón, será inmunda siete días; conforme a los días que está separada por su menstruo, será inmunda

3 Y al octavo día circuncidará la carne de su prepucio

4 Mas ella permanecerá treinta y tres días en la sangre de su purificación; ninguna cosa santa tocará, ni vendrá al santuario, hasta que sean cumplidos los días de su purificación

5 Y si diere a luz hembra será inmunda dos semanas, conforme a su separación, y sesenta y seis días estará purificándose de su sangre

6 Y cuando los días de su purificación fueren cumplidos, por hijo o por hija, traerá un cordero de un año como holocausto, y un palomino o una tórtola como el pecado, a la puerta del tabernáculo del testimonio, al sacerdote

7 y lo ofrecerá delante del SEÑOR, y la reconciliará, y será limpia del flujo de su sangre. Esta es la ley de la que diere a luz varón o hembra

8 Y si no tiene lo suficiente para un cordero, tomará entonces dos tórtolas o dos palominos, uno como holocausto, y otro como el pecado; y la reconciliará el sacerdote, y será limpia

Chapter 12

Ceremonial purification.

- After the laws concerning clean and unclean food, come the laws concerning clean and unclean persons. Man imparts his depraved nature to his offspring, so that, excepting as the atonement of Christ and the sanctification of the Spirit prevent, the original blessing, "Increase and multiply," Ge. 1:28 , is become to the fallen race a direful curse, and communicates sin and misery. Let those women who have received mercy from God in child-bearing, with all thankfulness own God's goodness to them; and this shall please the Lord better than sacrifices.
