Exodus 26:2

2 The length of one curtain shall be twenty-eight cubits, and the breadth of one curtain four cubits; and all the curtains shall have one measure.

Exodus 26:2 Meaning and Commentary

Exodus 26:2

The length of one curtain shall be twenty eight cubits
Or fourteen yards:

and the breadth of one curtain four cubits;
or two yards; according to the common notion of a cubit being half a yard; but if, as Dr. Cumberland says, the Jewish and Egyptian cubit was three inches longer, this will make a considerable difference in the length and breadth of those curtains, especially in the former:

and everyone of the curtains shall have one measure;
be of equal length and breadth.

Exodus 26:2 In-Context

1 Moreover thou shalt make the tabernacle with ten curtains of fine twined linen and blue and purple and scarlet; with cherubim of cunning work shalt thou make them.
2 The length of one curtain shall be twenty-eight cubits, and the breadth of one curtain four cubits; and all the curtains shall have one measure.
3 The five curtains shall be coupled together one to another, and the other five curtains shall be coupled one to another.
4 And thou shalt make loops of blue upon the edge of the one curtain from the border in the coupling; and likewise shalt thou make in the uttermost edge of another curtain in the coupling of the second.
5 Fifty loops shalt thou make in the one curtain, and fifty loops shalt thou make in the border of the curtain that is in the second coupling; that the loops may take hold one of another.
