Matthew 8:1

When he was come down from the mountain
Into which he went up, and preached the sermon recorded in the "three" preceding chapters:

great multitudes followed him:
which is mentioned, partly to shew, that the people which came from several parts, still continued with him, being affected with his discourses and miracles; and partly on account of the following miracle, of healing the leper, which was not done in a corner, but before great multitudes, who were witnesses of it: though some think this miracle was wrought more privately.

1 When he was come down from the mountain, many people followed him.
2 And, behold, a leper came and worshipped him, saying, Lord, if thou art willing, thou art able to cleanse me.
3 And Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.
4 Then Jesus said unto him, See thou tell no one; but go, show thyself to the priest and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
5 And when Jesus was entering into Capernaum, a centurion came unto him, beseeching him,
