43 These [are] the kings who reigned in the land of Edom before any king reigned over the {Israelites}:^[a] Bela son of Beor, and the name of his city [was] Dinhabah.

1 Chronicles 1:43 Meaning and Commentary

Ver. 43-54. Now these are the kings that reigned in the land of
Edom
Which had its name from Esau, who was so called, ( Genesis 25:30 ) . From hence, to the end of the chapter, an account is given of the kings and dukes of Edom, in the same order as in ( Genesis 30:31-43 ) .

42 The sons of Ezer: Bilhan, Zaavan, and Jaakan. The sons of Dishan: Uz and Aran.

43 These [are] the kings who reigned in the land of Edom before any king reigned over the {Israelites}: Bela son of Beor, and the name of his city [was] Dinhabah.

44 When Bela died, Jobab son of Zerah from Bozrah reigned in his place.

45 When Jobab died, Husham from the land of the Temanites reigned in his place.
