Ezekiel 44:6 Meaning and Commentary

Ezekiel 44:6

And thou shalt say to the rebellious, even to the house of
Israel
This is a character of literal Israel from the beginning, ( Deuteronomy 9:24 ) , and frequently given it in this prophecy, ( Ezekiel 2:2 Ezekiel 2:3 Ezekiel 2:5-8 ) ( Ezekiel 3:9 Ezekiel 3:26 Ezekiel 3:27 ) and well agrees with these declining churches in the latter day, and even in our times; it represents them as rebellious, because of their disregard to the ordinances of God's house, and to the laws and rules of it; and are not only called "rebellious", but "rebellion" F7 itself; expressive of the greatness of their sin, and the aggravations of it: thus saith the Lord God, O ye house of Israel, let it suite you of all
your abominations;
that is, let the abominations you have committed, will worship and superstition, paying a regard to the doctrines and commandments of men, be sufficient; stop and proceed no further; relinquish those things which are so abominable in my sight; let the time past suffice to have wrought them; cease entirely from them; see ( 1 Peter 4:3 ) , these abominations are more particularly expressed in the following words.

Ezekiel 44:6 In-Context

4 Then he brought me [by] the way of the gate of the north to the front of the temple, and I looked, and look! The glory of Yahweh filled the temple of Yahweh, and I fell on my face.
5 And Yahweh said, "Son of man, set your heart and look with your eyes and with your ears hear {everything} I [am] saying [to] you concerning all the statutes of the temple of Yahweh and concerning all its laws, and you must listen [with] your heart concerning the entrance of the temple with all of [the] exits of the sanctuary.
6 And you must say to [the] rebellious, to the house of Israel, 'Thus says the Lord Yahweh: "Enough for you, house of Israel, of all of your detestable things!
7 At your bringing {foreigners} [who are] uncircumcised of heart and uncircumcised of flesh to be in my sanctuary to profane it, my temple, {as you offered my food, fat, and blood}, so you broke my covenant by all of your detestable things.
8 And you did not observe the responsibility of my sanctuary, but you appointed [them] as the keepers of my responsibility in my sanctuary for you."
