7 Denn ich habe euren Vätern gezeugt von dem Tage an, da ich sie aus Ägyptenland führte, bis auf den heutigen Tag und zeugte stets und sprach: Gehorchet meiner Stimme!

Jeremiah 11:7

For I earnestly protested unto your fathers
Or "witnessing, witnessed" ^F7; testified his great affection for them; importunately solicited their observation of his precepts for their good; and strictly cautioned them against neglect and disobedience: the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt;

voice;
that is, from the time of the giving of the law, in all successive ages, to the present time, he had sent his prophets to them, time after time, morning by morning, early and late, to press, exhort, and stir them up to an obedience to his will, and to warn them of the evils that would come by disobedience to it.

5 auf daß ich den Eid halten möge, den ich euren Vätern geschworen habe, ihnen zu geben ein Land, darin Milch und Honig fließt, wie es denn heutigestages steht. Ich antwortete und sprach: HERR, ja, es sei also!

6 Und der HERR sprach zu mir: Predige alle diese Worte in den Städten Juda's und auf allen Gassen zu Jerusalem und sprich: Höret die Worte dieses Bundes und tut darnach!

7 Denn ich habe euren Vätern gezeugt von dem Tage an, da ich sie aus Ägyptenland führte, bis auf den heutigen Tag und zeugte stets und sprach: Gehorchet meiner Stimme!

8 Aber sie gehorchten nicht, neigten auch ihre Ohren nicht; sondern ein jeglicher ging nach seines bösen Herzens Gedünken. Darum habe ich auch über sie kommen lassen alle Worte dieses Bundes, den ich geboten habe zu tun, und nach dem sie doch nicht getan haben.

9 Und der HERR sprach zu mir: Ich weiß wohl, wie sie in Juda und zu Jerusalem sich rotten. {~}
