Jesaja 2:15 Meaning and Commentary

Isaiah 2:15

And upon every high tower, and upon every fenced wall.
] Which may signify everything that serves to support and defend the antichristian hierarchy, particularly the secular powers. The Targum paraphrases it,

``and upon all that dwell in a high tower, and upon all that reside by a fortified wall.''

13 auch über alle hohen und erhabenen Zedern auf dem Libanon und über alle Eichen in Basan;
14 ber alle hohen Berge und über alle erhabenen Hügel;
15 ber alle hohen Türme und über alle festen Mauern;
16 ber alle Schiffe im Meer und über alle köstliche Arbeit:
17 daß sich bücken muß alle Höhe der Menschen und sich demütigen müssen, die hohe Männer sind, und der HERR allein hoch sei zu der Zeit.
