1 "So it shall be whenall of thesethings have come upon you, 1the blessing and the cursewhich I have setbefore you, and you call them to mind2in allnationswhere* the LORD your God has banished you,
2
and you 3return to the LORD your God and obey* Him 4with all your heart and soul according to all that I command you today, you and your sons,
3
then the LORD your God will 5restore you from captivity, and havecompassion on you, and 6will gather you again from all the peopleswhere* the LORD your God has 7scattered you.
4
"If your outcasts are at the ends of the earth, 8from there the LORD your God will gather you, and from there He will bring you back.
5
"9The LORD your God will bring you into the landwhich your fatherspossessed, and you shall possess it; and He will prosper you and 10multiply you morethan your fathers.
6
"Moreover 11the LORD your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your descendants, 12to love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, so that you may live.
7
"13The LORD your God will inflictallthesecurses on your enemies and on those who hate you, whopersecuted you.
8
"And you shall againobey* the LORD, and observeall His commandmentswhich I command you today.
9
"14Then the LORD your God will prosper you abundantly in all the work of your hand, in the offspring of your body and in the offspring of your cattle and in the produce of your ground, for 15the LORD will againrejoiceover you for good, just as He rejoicedover your fathers;
10
if you obey* the LORD your God to keep His commandments and His statutes which 16are written in thisbook of the law, if you turn to the LORD your God17with all your heart and soul.
11
"For thiscommandmentwhich I command you today is not toodifficult for you, nor is it out of reach.
12
"It is not in heaven, that you should say, '18Who will go up to heaven for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may observe it?'
13
"Nor is it beyond* the sea, that you should say, 'Who will cross the sea for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may observe it?'
14
"But the word is verynear you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may observe it.
Choose Life
15"See, 19I have setbefore you todaylife and prosperity, and death and adversity;
16
in that I command you today20to love the LORD your God, to walk in His ways and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you 21may live and multiply, and that the LORD your God may bless you in the landwhere* you are entering to possess it.
17
"But if your heartturnsaway and you will not obey, but are drawnaway and worshipothergods and serve them,
18
I declare to you today that 22you shall surelyperish. You will not prolong your days in the landwhere* you are crossing the Jordan to enter and possess it.
19
"23I callheaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have setbefore you life and death, 24the blessing and the curse. So chooselife in order that you may live, you and your descendants,
20
25by loving the LORD your God, by obeying His voice, and 26by holdingfast to Him; 27for this is your life and the length of your days, that you may live in 28the landwhich the LORDswore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them."
