Matthew 26:1-13

If you’re a regular listener, you know we’ve spent several months going verse by verse through the gospel of Matthew. We’ve now reached a pivotal section in this account of the Lord’s earthly life and ministry.  In chapter sixteen a plot against Jesus begins to unfold, and we have a very touching scene where Mary is worshipping at the feet of Jesus.  While some were critical of her thinking it was a waste, Jesus saw it for what it truly was… worship.  And it should inspire us all to do the same.  

We’ve all seen shows or news reports on TV that feature a grand conspiracy of some sort!  And we shake our head in disgust as we consider the damage left behind.  Today on Sound Doctrine we’ll draw your attention to what is no doubt the biggest conspiracy of all time.  A plot to destroy mankind and the Messiah!  What may surprise you is who is behind it all.  

We’re going through Matthew and chapter twenty-six is before us today. It’s there we are challenged by Mary’s extravagant gift and the reaction of Judas to it.  

Find your place in Matthew chapter twenty-six where we find two people in wonderful juxtaposition, Caiaphas who seeks to live extravagantly and Mary of Bethany who seeks to give extravagantly.  One loves self the other loves God. Both are extravagant in their love. How so? Find out today.
