Psalms 66:8 Meaning and Commentary

Psalms 66:8

O bless our God, ye people
In all countries, that know the Lord and fear him; ascribe blessing, and honour and glory, to Christ our God, on account of his works, actions, perfections, kingdom and power; and because of the destruction of those who are rebels to his government;

and make the voice of his praise to be heard;
far and near, in psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs; by shoutings, and loud acclamations of joy; see ( Revelation 19:5 Revelation 19:6 ) ; where Christ is called our God, and a like exhortation is made as here.

Psalms 66:8 In-Context

6 He turned the sea into dry land; They passed through the river on foot; There let us rejoice in Him!
7 He rules by His might forever; His eyes keep watch on the nations; Let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah.
8 Bless our God, O peoples, And sound His praise abroad,
9 Who keeps us in life And does not allow our feet to slip.
10 For You have tried us, O God; You have refined us as silver is refined.
