Leviticus 7:4

4 both kidneys with the fat that is on them near the lower back muscle, and the best part of the liver, which is to be removed with the kidneys.

Leviticus 7:4 Meaning and Commentary

Leviticus 7:4

And the two kidneys, and the fat that [is] on them
Which are usually covered with fat:

which [is] by the flanks:
or rather that which is "upon" them F25; for this respects not the situation of the kidneys, nor the fat upon them, but the fat which is upon the flanks, as distinct from that, and where there are great collops of it, see ( Job 15:27 ) :

and the caul [that is] above the liver;
the lobe upon the liver, according to the Septuagint:

with the kidneys, it shall he take away;
all the fat before mentioned, together with the kidneys, were to be taken away from the ram of the trespass offering, and burnt, as follows.

Leviticus 7:4 In-Context

2 The penalty offering must be killed where the whole burnt offering is killed. Then the priest must sprinkle its blood on all sides of the altar.
3 He must offer all the fat from the penalty offering -- the fat tail, the fat that covers the inner organs,
4 both kidneys with the fat that is on them near the lower back muscle, and the best part of the liver, which is to be removed with the kidneys.
5 The priest must burn all these things on the altar as an offering made by fire to the Lord. It is a penalty offering.
6 Any male in a priest's family may eat it. It is most holy, so it must be eaten in a holy place.
