1 Chronicles 23:1

So when David was old and full of days
Perhaps was now in the last year of his age, about seventy years old, though before he was bedridden; see ( 1 Chronicles 28:2 ) ,

he made Solomon his son king over Israel;
declared him to be his successor; this was before the affair of Adonijah, for then he ordered him to be anointed king, and placed on the throne; and this aggravated the rebellion of Adonijah, that it was against the declared and known will of his father.

Cuando David ya era muy anciano designó a su hijo Salomón rey de Israel.

2 David convocó a todos los líderes de Israel, junto con los sacerdotes y los levitas.

3 Contaron a todos los levitas de treinta años o más y el total sumó treinta y ocho mil.

4 Entonces David dijo: «De entre los levitas, veinticuatro mil supervisarán el trabajo en el templo del Señor
. Otros seis mil servirán como funcionarios y jueces.

5 Otros cuatro mil trabajarán como porteros, y cuatro mil alabarán al Señor
con los instrumentos musicales que yo hice».
