13 Cuando por fin Samuel lo encontró, Saúl lo saludó con alegría.

te bendiga —le dijo—. Llevé a cabo el mandato del Señor

1 Samuel 15:13

And Samuel came to Saul
At Gilgal:

and Saul said unto him, blessed be thou of the Lord;
signifying that he had abundant reason to bless the Lord on his account, not only that he had anointed him king, but had sent him on such an errand, in which he had succeeded so well, and it was a pleasure to him that he might report it to him:

I have performed the commandment of the Lord;
either he was really ignorant that he had done amiss; and thought that his sparing Agag, when he had destroyed all the rest, and reserving some of the best of the cattle for sacrifice, could not be interpreted a breach of the orders given him; or if he was conscious he had broken the commandment of the Lord, this he said to prevent Samuel's reproof of him, and to sooth him with flattering words.

11 «Lamento haber hecho a Saúl rey, porque no me ha sido leal y se ha negado a obedecer mi mandato». Al oírlo, Samuel se conmovió tanto que clamó al Señor
durante toda la noche.

12 Temprano a la mañana siguiente Samuel fue a buscar a Saúl. Alguien le dijo: «Saúl fue a la ciudad de Carmelo a levantar un monumento en su propio honor y después continuó a Gilgal».

13 Cuando por fin Samuel lo encontró, Saúl lo saludó con alegría.

te bendiga —le dijo—. Llevé a cabo el mandato del Señor

14 —Entonces, ¿qué es todo ese balido de ovejas y cabras, y ese mugido de ganado que oigo? —le preguntó Samuel.

15 —Es cierto que los soldados dejaron con vida lo mejor de las ovejas, las cabras y el ganado —admitió Saúl—, pero van a sacrificarlos al Señor
tu Dios. Hemos destruido todo lo demás.
