7 Cuando el Señor
vio el cambio de actitud en ellos, le dio este mensaje a Semaías: «Puesto que el pueblo se ha humillado, no lo destruiré completamente y pronto le daré cierto alivio. No usaré a Sisac para derramar mi enojo sobre Jerusalén;

2 Chronicles 12:7

And when the Lord saw that they humbled themselves
Though but externally; the Lord takes notice of external humiliation, as he did of Ahab's, ( 1 Kings 21:29 ) ,

the word of the Lord came to Shemaiah, saying, they have humbled
themselves, therefore I will not destroy them;
not now, at least not altogether, ( 2 Chronicles 12:12 ) ,

but I will grant them some deliverance;
yet not a complete one, for they were brought into servitude by Shishak, ( 2 Chronicles 12:8 ) , or only for a short time:

and my wrath shall not be poured out against Jerusalem by the hand of
Shishak;
that is, to the uttermost; that was reserved to another time, and to be done by another hand, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.

5 Entonces el profeta Semaías se reunió con Roboam y con los líderes de Judá, quienes habían huido a Jerusalén por causa de Sisac. Semaías les dijo:
—Esto dice el Señor
: “Ustedes me abandonaron, y por eso yo los abandono en manos de Sisac”.

6 Entonces los líderes de Israel y el rey se humillaron y dijeron:
—¡El Señor
es justo al hacer esto con nosotros!

7 Cuando el Señor
vio el cambio de actitud en ellos, le dio este mensaje a Semaías: «Puesto que el pueblo se ha humillado, no lo destruiré completamente y pronto le daré cierto alivio. No usaré a Sisac para derramar mi enojo sobre Jerusalén;

8 pero serán súbditos de Sisac, para que conozcan la diferencia entre servirme a mí y servir a los gobernantes terrenales».

9 Entonces el rey Sisac de Egipto subió y atacó Jerusalén. Saqueó los tesoros del templo del Señor
y del palacio real; robó todo, incluso los escudos de oro que Salomón había hecho.
