2 Chronicles 20:8

And they dwelt therein
From ages past, hitherto, since it was first given them, and they were put into the possession of it: and have built thee a sanctuary therein for thy name;
a temple for his worship, honour, and glory, and for him to dwell in; and is a reason why it might be hoped he would protect them, especially when they prayed to him: saying;
and he promised to hear and help them, as follows.

6 y oró diciendo: «Oh Señor
, Dios de nuestros antepasados, solo tú eres el Dios que está en el cielo. Tú eres el gobernante de todos los reinos de la tierra. Tú eres fuerte y poderoso. ¡Nadie puede hacerte frente!

7 Oh Dios nuestro, ¿acaso no expulsaste a los que vivían en esta tierra cuando llegó tu pueblo Israel? ¿Acaso no les diste esta tierra para siempre a los descendientes de tu amigo Abraham?

8 Tu pueblo se estableció aquí y construyó este templo para honrar tu nombre.

9 Ellos dijeron: “Cuando enfrentemos cualquier calamidad, ya sea guerra,
plagas o hambre, podremos venir a este lugar para estar en tu presencia ante este templo donde se honra tu nombre. Podremos clamar a ti para que nos salves y tú nos oirás y nos rescatarás”.

10 »Ahora mira lo que los ejércitos de Amón, Moab y del monte Seir están haciendo. Tú no permitiste que nuestros antepasados invadieran esas naciones cuando Israel salió de Egipto, así que las rodearon y no las destruyeron.
