1 Jotam gobierna en Judá
Jotam tenía veinticinco años cuando subió al trono y reinó en Jerusalén dieciséis años. Su madre se llamaba Jerusa y era hija de Sadoc.

2 Jotam hizo lo que era agradable a los ojos del Señor
. Hizo todo lo que había hecho su padre Uzías, solo que Jotam no pecó porque no entró en el templo del Señor
; pero el pueblo continuó con sus prácticas corruptas.

3 Jotam reconstruyó la puerta superior del templo del Señor
. También hizo extensas reparaciones en la muralla en la colina de Ofel.

4 Edificó ciudades en la zona montañosa de Judá y construyó fortalezas y torres en las zonas boscosas.

5 Jotam entró en guerra contra los amonitas y los venció. Durante los tres años siguientes recibió de ellos un tributo anual de 3400 kilos
de plata, 2.200.000 kilos de trigo, y 2.200.000 kilos de cebada.

6 El rey Jotam llegó a ser muy poderoso porque procuró vivir en obediencia al Señor

Chapter 27

Jotham's reign in Judah.

- The people did corruptly. Perhaps Jotham was wanting towards the reformation of the land. Men may be very good, and yet not have courage and zeal to do what they might. It certainly casts blame upon the people. Jotham prospered, and became mighty. The more stedfast we are in religion, the more mighty we are, both to resist evil, and to do good. The Lord often removes wise and pious rulers, and sends others, whose follies and vices punish a people that valued not their mercies.
