2 Crónicas 28:1-7

1 Acaz gobierna en Judá
Acaz tenía veinte años cuando subió al trono y reinó en Jerusalén dieciséis años. Él no hizo lo que era agradable a los ojos del Señor
, como sí lo había hecho su antepasado David.

2 En cambio, siguió el ejemplo de los reyes de Israel. Fundió imágenes de metal para rendir culto a Baal.

3 Ofreció sacrificios en el valle de Ben-hinom y hasta sacrificó a sus hijos en el fuego.
De esta manera, siguió las prácticas detestables de las naciones paganas que el Señor
había expulsado de la tierra al paso de los israelitas.

4 Ofreció sacrificios y quemó incienso en los santuarios paganos, en las colinas y debajo de todo árbol frondoso.

5 Por todo eso, el Señor
su Dios permitió al rey de Aram que derrotara a Acaz y que desterrara a Damasco a un gran número de habitantes de su pueblo. Los ejércitos del rey de Israel también derrotaron a Acaz y causaron muchas bajas en su ejército.

6 En un solo día Peka, hijo de Remalías y rey de Israel, mató a ciento veinte mil soldados de Judá —todos ellos guerreros con experiencia—, porque habían abandonado al Señor
, Dios de sus antepasados.

7 Luego Zicri, un guerrero de Efraín, mató a Maaseías, el hijo del rey; a Azricam, el comandante del palacio del rey; y a Elcana, el segundo en autoridad después del rey.

INTRODUCTION TO 2 CHRONICLES 28

This chapter contains the reign of Ahaz, and gives an account of the idolatry he was guilty of, 2Ch 28:1-4, what calamities came upon him and his people, being delivered up into the hands of the kings of Syria and Israel, who slew many, and carried others captives, 2Ch 28:5-8, though they that were taken captive by Israel, at the admonition of a prophet, were sent back again, 2Ch 28:9-15, how also he was distressed by the Edomites and Philistines, and not helped by the king of Assyria, he sent for and made presents to, 2Ch 28:16-21 and yet went into more and greater idolatries, 2Ch 28:22-25, and the chapter is concluded with his death and burial, 2Ch 28:26,27.

These verses are much the same with 2Ki 16:2-4, only in 2Ch 28:2 it is said,

\\he made also molten images for Baalim\\; the several Baals or idols of the nations round about, as well as served Jeroboam's calves; see Jud 2:11, and he is said in 2Ch 28:3,
