9 Entonces el rey de Asiria atacó Damasco, la capital aramea, se llevó cautivos a sus habitantes y los estableció en Kir. También mató al rey Rezín.

2 Kings 16:9

And the king of Assyria hearkened unto him
Complied with his request:

for the king of Syria went up against Damascus, and took it;
the metropolis of the kingdom of Syria, and so made a powerful diversion in favour of the king of Judah:

and carried the people of it captive to Kir;
not Cyrene, as the Vulgate Latin version, a country belonging to Egypt, which the king of Assyria had no power over; but a place in upper Media, as Josephus ^F16 relates, which belonged to the Assyrian king; see ( Isaiah 22:6 ) , compared with ( 2 Kings 21:2 ) , of this captivity Amos had prophesied some time before, ( Amos 1:5 )

and slew Rezin;
the king of Syria, which also was foretold in the same prophecy.

7 El rey Acaz envió mensajeros a Tiglat-pileser, rey de Asiria, con este mensaje: «Yo soy tu siervo y tu vasallo.
Sube a rescatarme de los ejércitos de Aram e Israel, que me atacan».

8 Después Acaz tomó la plata y el oro del templo del Señor
y del tesoro del palacio y envió todo como pago al rey de Asiria.

10 Luego el rey Acaz se dirigió a Damasco a encontrarse con Tiglat-pileser, rey de Asiria. Mientras estaba allí, observó detenidamente el altar y le envió un modelo del altar al sacerdote Urías, junto con el diseño bien detallado.

11 Urías siguió las instrucciones del rey y construyó uno igual, y lo tuvo listo antes de que el rey volviera de Damasco.
