17 Hasta sacrificaron a sus hijos y a sus hijas en el fuego.
Consultaron con adivinos, practicaron la hechicería y se entregaron por completo al mal, con lo cual provocaron el enojo del Señor

2 Kings 17:17

And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through
the fire
To Baal or Moloch, which were the same, and represented the sun, which, as the above writer observes, presides in the element of fire; this was done either by way of lustration, or so as to be burnt, see ( 2 Kings 16:3 )

and used divination and enchantments:
to get knowledge of what was to be done at present, or of things to come, neglecting the word of God and his prophets, and acting against the express law of God, ( Deuteronomy 18:10-12 )

and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the Lord, to provoke
him to anger;
as Ahab their king did, see ( 1 Kings 21:20 1 Kings 21:25 ) , they were as much the servants of sin as if they had sold themselves to be slaves to it.

15 Rechazaron sus decretos y el pacto que él había hecho con sus antepasados, y despreciaron todas sus advertencias. Rindieron culto a ídolos inútiles, por lo cual ellos mismos se volvieron inútiles. Siguieron el ejemplo de las naciones vecinas, desobedeciendo el mandato del Señor
de no imitarlas.

16 Los israelitas rechazaron todos los mandatos del Señor
su Dios e hicieron dos becerros de metal. Levantaron un poste dedicado a la diosa Asera y rindieron culto a Baal y veneraron a todas las fuerzas del cielo.

17 Hasta sacrificaron a sus hijos y a sus hijas en el fuego.

18 Como el Señor
estaba muy enojado con los israelitas, los barrió de su presencia. Solo la tribu de Judá quedó en la tierra;

19 pero aun los de Judá se negaron a obedecer los mandatos del Señor
su Dios, ya que siguieron las prácticas perversas que Israel había introducido.
