Esther 5:11

And Haman told them of the glory of his riches
Of the multitude of them; which he did partly in a way of ostentation, and partly, if he could, to make his mind easy under the mortification he received from Mordecai; and, it may be, chiefly to aggravate his rudeness and ill behaviour towards him, a man of so much wealth: and the multitude of his children; he had ten, as we learn from ( Esther 9:10 ) , but the former Targum enlarges them, beyond credit, to the number of two hundred and eight, besides his ten sons, and Shimshai the scribe; such were had in great esteem with the Persians who had many children; to such the king used to send gifts annually ^F11:

and all the things wherein the king had promoted him;
the high offices of honour and trust he had put him into:

and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.

¡Amán salió muy contento del banquete! Sin embargo, cuando vio a Mardoqueo sentado a la puerta del palacio y que no se puso de pie ni tembló de miedo ante su presencia, se enfureció mucho.

10 No obstante, se contuvo y se fue a su casa.
Luego Amán reunió a sus amigos y a Zeres, su esposa,

11 y se jactó ante ellos de su gran riqueza y sus muchos hijos. Hizo alarde de los honores que el rey le había dado y de la forma en que lo había ascendido por encima de todos los otros nobles y funcionarios.

12 Amán también añadió: «¡Y eso no es todo! La reina Ester nos invitó exclusivamente al rey y a mí a un banquete que preparó para nosotros. ¡Y me invitó a cenar mañana nuevamente con ella y con el rey!

13 Sin embargo, todo eso no vale nada mientras vea al judío Mardoqueo sentado allí, a la puerta del palacio».
