Ezequiel 10

1 La gloria del Señor
abandona el templo
En mi visión, vi que, por encima de la superficie de cristal que estaba sobre las cabezas de los querubines, había algo que parecía un trono de lapislázuli.

2 Entonces el Señor
le habló al hombre vestido de lino y le dijo: «Métete entre las ruedas que giran debajo de los querubines, toma un puñado de carbones encendidos y espárcelos sobre la ciudad». Así que el hombre lo hizo mientras yo observaba.

3 Cuando el hombre entró allí, los querubines estaban de pie en la parte sur del templo y la nube de gloria llenaba el atrio interior.

4 Entonces la gloria del Señor
se elevó por encima de los querubines y se dirigió hacia la puerta del templo. El templo se llenó con esa nube de gloria y el atrio resplandeció con la gloria del Señor
.

5 El sonido de las alas de los querubines sonaban como la voz del Dios Todopoderoso
y podía oírse hasta en el atrio exterior.

6 El Señor
le dijo al hombre vestido de lino: «Métete entre los querubines y toma algunos carbones encendidos de entre las ruedas». Entonces el hombre entró y se paró junto a una de las ruedas.

7 Luego uno de los querubines extendió la mano y tomó algunas brasas de en medio del fuego que ardía entre ellos. Puso las brasas en las manos del hombre vestido de lino y el hombre las tomó y salió de allí.

8 (Todos los querubines tenían debajo de sus alas lo que parecían ser manos humanas).

9 Me fijé y cada uno de los cuatro querubines tenía una rueda a su lado y las ruedas brillaban como el berilo.

10 Las cuatro ruedas eran semejantes entre sí y estaban hechas de la misma manera; dentro de cada rueda había otra rueda que giraba en forma transversal.

11 Los querubines podían avanzar de frente en las cuatro direcciones, sin girar mientras se movían. Iban derecho en la dirección que tuvieran frente a ellos y nunca se desviaban.

12 Tanto los querubines como las ruedas estaban cubiertos de ojos. Los querubines tenían ojos por todo el cuerpo, incluso las manos, la espalda y las alas.

13 Oí que alguien hablaba de las ruedas como «las ruedas que giran».

14 Cada uno de los cuatro querubines tenía cuatro caras: la primera era la cara de un buey,
la segunda era una cara humana, la tercera era la cara de un león y la cuarta era la cara de un águila.

15 Luego los querubines se elevaron. Eran los mismos seres vivientes que yo había visto junto al río Quebar.

16 Cuando los querubines se movían, las ruedas se movían con ellos. Cuando elevaban las alas para volar, las ruedas permanecían con ellos.

17 Cuando los querubines se detenían, las ruedas también se detenían. Cuando volaban hacia arriba, las ruedas subían, porque el espíritu de los seres vivientes estaba en las ruedas.

18 Luego la gloria del Señor
salió de la puerta del templo y se sostenía en el aire por encima de los querubines.

19 Entonces, mientras yo observaba, los querubines volaron con sus ruedas a la puerta oriental del templo del Señor
y la gloria del Dios de Israel se sostenía en el aire por encima de ellos.

20 Eran los mismos seres vivientes que yo había visto debajo del Dios de Israel cuando me encontraba junto al río Quebar. Sabía que eran querubines,

21 porque cada uno tenía cuatro caras y cuatro alas y lo que parecían ser manos humanas debajo de las alas.

22 Además, sus caras eran como las caras de los seres que yo había visto junto al Quebar y se movían de frente y hacia adelante, tal como los otros.

Ezequiel 10 Commentary

Chapter 10

A vision of the burning of the city. (1-7) The Divine glory departing from the temple. (8-22)

Verses 1-7 The fire being taken from between the wheels, under the cherubim, ch. 1:13 , seems to have signified the wrath of God to be executed upon Jerusalem. It intimated that the fire of Divine wrath, which kindles judgment upon a people, is just and holy; and in the great day, the earth, and all the works that are therein, will be burnt up.

Verses 8-22 Ezekiel sees the working of Divine providence in the government of the lower world, and the affairs of it. When God is leaving a people in displeasure, angels above, and all events below, further his departure. The Spirit of life, the Spirit of God, directs all creatures, in heaven and on earth, so as to make them serve the Divine purpose. God removes by degrees from a provoking people; and, when ready to depart, would return to them, if they were a repenting, praying people. Let this warn sinners to seek the Lord while he may be found, and to call on him while he is near, and cause us all to walk humbly and watchfully with our God.

Chapter Summary

INTRODUCTION TO EZEKIEL 10

In this chapter is a vision, very much like that in the first chapter, with some difference, and with a different view, the design of it being to represent the wrath of God against Jerusalem, and his departure from the city and temple. A throne much like that in Eze 1:26 is described, Eze 10:1; orders are given from it to scatter coals over the city, Eze 10:2; the situation of the cherubim when these orders were given, Eze 10:3; the removal of the glory of the Lord from the cherub to the threshold of the house, and the consequences of it; the house filled with smoke; the court with the brightness of the Lord's glory; and the sound of the cherubim's wings heard to the outer court, as the voice of God, Eze 10:4,5; the orders of taking and scattering fire over the city executed, and the manner in which they were, Eze 10:6,7; a description of the cherubim and the wheels, much like that in the first chapter, Eze 10:8-17; the departure of the glory of God from the threshold to the east gate of the Lord's house, with the motion of the cherubim and wheels along with him, Eze 10:18,19; and the chapter is concluded with observing, that the cherubim are the same with the living creatures seen in the vision of the first chapter, and had the same form, likeness, and motion, Eze 10:20-22.
