2 Samuel 4:7

For when they came into the house, he lay on his bed in his
bedchamber
This is repeated to give a more particular account of the murder; though Abarbinel thinks they went in twice; when they went in first they smote him under the fifth rib, and made their escape; but fearing they had not left him dead, they returned, and did as follows:

and they smote him, and slew him;
so that it was out of all doubt with them that he was dead:

and beheaded him;
to make sure work of it:

and took his head;
along with them, perhaps in one of the sacks they had to fetch wheat in, and so passed undiscovered, to carry to David, to curry favour with him:

and gat them away through the plain all night;
through the plain of Jordan; all the way from Mahanaim to Hebron being for the most part a plain country till they came to Hebron, which was mountainous; the way from Mahanaim to Hebron was a space of sixty eight miles, according to Bunting F26.

5 Ahora bien, Recab y Baná, los hijos de Rimón el berotita, partieron para la casa de Isboset y llegaron a la hora más calurosa del día, cuando él dormía la siesta.
6 Con el pretexto de sacar un poco de trigo, Recab y su hermano Baná entraron al interior de la casa, y allí mismo lo apuñalaron en el vientre. Después de eso, escaparon.
7 Se habían metido en la casa mientras Isboset estaba en la alcoba, acostado en su cama. Lo mataron a puñaladas, y luego le cortaron la cabeza y se la llevaron. Caminaron toda la noche por el Arabá
8 y, al llegar a Hebrón, le entregaron a David la cabeza de Isboset, diciendo:—Mire, Su Majestad: aquí le traemos la cabeza de Isboset, hijo de su enemigo Saúl, que intentó matarlo a usted. El SEÑOR ha vengado hoy a Su Majestad por lo que Saúl y su descendencia le hicieron.
9 Pero David les respondió a Recab y a Baná, los hijos de Rimón el berotita:—Tan cierto como que vive el SEÑOR, quien me ha librado de todas mis angustias,
