Deuteronomy 13:15

Thou shalt surely smite the inhabitants of that city with the
edge of the sword
This could not be the work of a single person, nor of the whole sanhedrim, but was what the whole nation was to join in, according to the above note:

destroying it utterly;
pulling down the houses, and demolishing its walls and fortifications, or burning it, as afterwards explained:

and all that is therein;
men, women, and children:

and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword;
this severity was used to show the Lord's indignation against the sin of idolatry, and to deter persons from it, both individuals and bodies of men.

13 que han surgido hombres perversos que descarrían a la gente y le dicen: “Vayamos a rendir culto a otros dioses”, dioses que ustedes no han conocido,

14 entonces deberás inquirir e investigar todo con sumo cuidado. Si se comprueba que tal hecho abominable ha ocurrido en medio de ti,

15 no dudes en matar a filo de espada a todos los habitantes de esa ciudad. Destrúyelos junto con todo lo que haya en ella, incluyendo el ganado.

16 Lleva todo el botín a la plaza pública, y préndele fuego a la ciudad y a todo el botín. Será una ofrenda totalmente quemada para el SEÑOR tu Dios. La ciudad se quedará para siempre en ruinas, y no volverá a ser reedificada.

17 No te apropies de nada que haya sido consagrado a la destrucción. De ese modo, el SEÑOR alejará de ti el furor de su ira, te tratará con misericordia y compasión, y hará que te multipliques, tal como se lo juró a tus antepasados.
