Deuteronomio 4:26

26 hoy pongo al cielo y a la tierra por testigos contra ustedes, de que muy pronto desaparecerán de la tierra que van a poseer al cruzar el Jordán. No vivirán allí mucho tiempo, sino que serán destruidos por completo.

Deuteronomy 4:26

I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day
Should they be guilty of such a sin, since they were so strongly and publicly cautioned against it; and even the heaven and the earth were called upon as witnesses of the law being set before them, which so expressly forbids it, ( Deuteronomy 30:19 )

that ye shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto you go
over Jordan to possess it;
though they were now about to go over Jordan and inherit the land of Canaan, yet they would not enjoy it long, but be taken and carried captive out of it; as the ten tribes were by Shalmaneser king of Assyria, and the two tribes by Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and both for their idolatry and other crimes.

25 »Si después de haber tenido hijos y nietos, y de haber vivido en la tierra mucho tiempo, ustedes se corrompen y se fabrican ídolos y toda clase de figuras, haciendo así lo malo ante el SEÑOR su Dios y provocándolo a ira,

27 El SEÑOR los dispersará entre las naciones, y entre todas ellas solo quedarán esparcidos unos pocos.

28 Allí ustedes adorarán a dioses de madera y de piedra, hechos por seres humanos: dioses que no pueden ver ni oír, ni comer ni oler.
