1 Plaga de ranas<br />Entonces el Señor<br /> le dijo a Moisés: «Regresa a ver al faraón y anúnciale lo siguiente: “Esto dice el Señor<br />: ‘Deja ir a mi pueblo para que me adore.

2 Si te niegas a dejarlo ir, enviaré una plaga de ranas por todo tu territorio.

3 El río Nilo se colmará de ranas. Saldrán del río y se meterán en tu palacio, ¡hasta en tu dormitorio y sobre tu cama! Entrarán en las casas de tus funcionarios y de tu gente. Incluso saltarán en tus hornos y en los recipientes donde amasan tu pan.

4 Las ranas saltarán sobre ti, sobre tu gente y sobre todos tus funcionarios’”».

5 Luego el Señor<br /> le dijo a Moisés: «Dile a Aarón: “Extiende la vara que llevas en la mano sobre los ríos, los canales y las lagunas de Egipto, y haz que aparezcan ranas sobre toda la tierra”».

6 Entonces Aarón extendió su mano sobre las aguas de Egipto, ¡y salieron ranas que cubrieron todo el territorio!

7 Pero los magos pudieron hacer lo mismo con sus artes mágicas, también lograron que aparecieran ranas en la tierra de Egipto.

8 Entonces el faraón mandó llamar a Moisés y a Aarón, y les suplicó:<br />—Rueguen al Señor<br /> que quite las ranas de mí y de mi gente. Yo dejaré salir a su pueblo para que ofrezca sacrificios al Señor<br />.

9 —¡Tú fija la hora! —respondió Moisés—. Dime cuándo quieres que ore por ti, por tus funcionarios y por tu gente. Entonces tú y tus casas se librarán de las ranas, y estas quedarán solo en el río Nilo.

10 —Háganlo mañana mismo —dijo el faraón.<br />—De acuerdo —respondió Moisés—, se hará como has dicho. Entonces sabrás que no hay nadie como el Señor<br /> nuestro Dios.

11 Las ranas se alejarán de ti y de tus casas, de tus funcionarios y de tu gente. Quedarán solamente en el río Nilo.

12 Entonces Moisés y Aarón salieron del palacio del faraón, y Moisés clamó al Señor<br /> acerca de las ranas que le había enviado al faraón.

13 Y el Señor<br /> hizo exactamente lo que Moisés había predicho. Murieron todas las ranas en las casas, en los patios y en los campos.

14 Los egipcios las apilaron en grandes montones, y un hedor insoportable llenó todo el territorio.

15 Pero cuando el faraón vio que había alivio, se puso terco<br /> y se negó a escuchar a Moisés y a Aarón, tal como el Señor<br /> había dicho.

16 Plaga de mosquitos<br />Así que el Señor<br /> le dijo a Moisés: «Dile a Aarón: “Extiende tu vara y golpea el suelo. El polvo se convertirá en enjambres de mosquitos por toda la tierra de Egipto”».

17 Entonces Moisés y Aarón hicieron tal como el Señor<br /> les ordenó. Cuando Aarón extendió la mano y golpeó el suelo con su vara, los mosquitos infestaron todo el territorio y tanto los egipcios como sus animales quedaron cubiertos de ellos. Todo el polvo de la tierra de Egipto se convirtió en mosquitos.

18 Los magos del faraón intentaron hacer lo mismo mediante sus artes ocultas, pero esta vez no pudieron. Y los mosquitos estaban sobre todos: gente y animales por igual.

19 «¡Es el dedo de Dios!», exclamaron los magos ante el faraón. Pero el corazón del faraón siguió endurecido y no quiso escucharlos, tal como el Señor<br /> había dicho.

20 Plaga de moscas<br />Luego el Señor<br /> le dijo a Moisés: «Mañana, levántate temprano y párate delante del faraón cuando baje al río y dile: “Esto dice el Señor<br />: ‘Deja ir a mi pueblo para que me adore.

21 Si te niegas, enviaré enjambres de moscas sobre ti, tus funcionarios, tu gente y todas las casas. Los hogares egipcios se llenarán de moscas, y el suelo quedará cubierto de ellas.

22 Pero esta vez haré una excepción con la región de Gosén, donde vive mi pueblo. Allí no habrá moscas. Entonces sabrás que yo soy el Señor<br />, y que estoy presente incluso en el corazón de tu tierra.

23 Haré una clara distinción entre<br /> mi pueblo y tu pueblo. Esta señal milagrosa ocurrirá mañana’”».

24 Y el Señor<br /> hizo tal como había dicho. Una densa nube de moscas llenó el palacio del faraón y las casas de sus funcionarios. Todo el territorio de Egipto entró en un estado de caos por causa de las moscas.

25 Entonces el faraón mandó llamar a Moisés y a Aarón y les dijo:<br />—¡De acuerdo! Vayan y ofrezcan sacrificios a su Dios, pero háganlo aquí, dentro del reino.

26 Pero Moisés respondió:<br />—Eso no estaría bien. Los egipcios detestan los sacrificios que ofrecemos al Señor<br /> nuestro Dios. Si ofrecemos nuestros sacrificios a la vista de ellos, nos apedrearán.

27 Para ofrecer sacrificios al Señor<br /> nuestro Dios, tenemos que salir al desierto, a una distancia de tres días, tal como él nos ordenó.

28 —Está bien, pueden ir —contestó el faraón—. Los dejaré ir al desierto para ofrecer sacrificios al Señor<br /> su Dios, pero no se alejen demasiado. Apúrense y oren por mí.

29 —En cuanto salga de tu presencia —le respondió Moisés—, oraré al Señor<br />, y mañana mismo la nube de moscas desaparecerá de ti, de tus funcionarios y de toda tu gente. Pero te advierto, faraón, no vuelvas a mentirnos o a engañarnos y luego negarte a dejar salir al pueblo para que ofrezca sacrificios al Señor<br />.

30 Entonces Moisés salió del palacio del faraón y rogó al Señor<br /> que quitara todas las moscas.

31 El Señor<br /> hizo lo que Moisés pidió, y los enjambres de moscas desaparecieron del faraón, de los funcionarios y de su gente. No quedó ni una sola mosca.

32 Pero el faraón volvió a ponerse terco y se negó a dejar salir al pueblo.

1 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go to Pharaoh and say to him, ‘This is what the LORD says: Let my people go, so that they may worship me.

2 If you refuse to let them go, I will send a plague of frogs on your whole country.

3 The Nile will teem with frogs. They will come up into your palace and your bedroom and onto your bed, into the houses of your officials and on your people, and into your ovens and kneading troughs.

4 The frogs will come up on you and your people and all your officials.’ ”

5 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Stretch out your hand with your staff over the streams and canals and ponds, and make frogs come up on the land of Egypt.’ ”

6 So Aaron stretched out his hand over the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up and covered the land.

7 But the magicians did the same things by their secret arts; they also made frogs come up on the land of Egypt.

8 Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Pray to the LORD to take the frogs away from me and my people, and I will let your people go to offer sacrifices to the LORD.”

9 Moses said to Pharaoh, “I leave to you the honor of setting the time for me to pray for you and your officials and your people that you and your houses may be rid of the frogs, except for those that remain in the Nile.”

10 “Tomorrow,” Pharaoh said. Moses replied, “It will be as you say, so that you may know there is no one like the LORD our God.

11 The frogs will leave you and your houses, your officials and your people; they will remain only in the Nile.”

12 After Moses and Aaron left Pharaoh, Moses cried out to the LORD about the frogs he had brought on Pharaoh.

13 And the LORD did what Moses asked. The frogs died in the houses, in the courtyards and in the fields.

14 They were piled into heaps, and the land reeked of them.

15 But when Pharaoh saw that there was relief, he hardened his heart and would not listen to Moses and Aaron, just as the LORD had said.

16 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron, ‘Stretch out your staff and strike the dust of the ground,’ and throughout the land of Egypt the dust will become gnats.”

17 They did this, and when Aaron stretched out his hand with the staff and struck the dust of the ground, gnats came on people and animals. All the dust throughout the land of Egypt became gnats.

18 But when the magicians tried to produce gnats by their secret arts, they could not. Since the gnats were on people and animals everywhere,

19 the magicians said to Pharaoh, “This is the finger of God.” But Pharaoh’s heart was hard and he would not listen, just as the LORD had said.

20 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Get up early in the morning and confront Pharaoh as he goes to the river and say to him, ‘This is what the LORD says: Let my people go, so that they may worship me.

21 If you do not let my people go, I will send swarms of flies on you and your officials, on your people and into your houses. The houses of the Egyptians will be full of flies; even the ground will be covered with them.

22 “ ‘But on that day I will deal differently with the land of Goshen, where my people live; no swarms of flies will be there, so that you will know that I, the LORD, am in this land.

23 I will make a distinction between my people and your people. This sign will occur tomorrow.’ ”

24 And the LORD did this. Dense swarms of flies poured into Pharaoh’s palace and into the houses of his officials; throughout Egypt the land was ruined by the flies.

25 Then Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and said, “Go, sacrifice to your God here in the land.”

26 But Moses said, “That would not be right. The sacrifices we offer the LORD our God would be detestable to the Egyptians. And if we offer sacrifices that are detestable in their eyes, will they not stone us?

27 We must take a three-day journey into the wilderness to offer sacrifices to the LORD our God, as he commands us.”

28 Pharaoh said, “I will let you go to offer sacrifices to the LORD your God in the wilderness, but you must not go very far. Now pray for me.”

29 Moses answered, “As soon as I leave you, I will pray to the LORD, and tomorrow the flies will leave Pharaoh and his officials and his people. Only let Pharaoh be sure that he does not act deceitfully again by not letting the people go to offer sacrifices to the LORD.”

30 Then Moses left Pharaoh and prayed to the LORD,

31 and the LORD did what Moses asked. The flies left Pharaoh and his officials and his people; not a fly remained.

32 But this time also Pharaoh hardened his heart and would not let the people go.
