1 Y oyendo la reina de Sabá la fama de Salomón en el nombre del SEÑOR, vino a tentarle con enigmas

2 Y vino a Jerusalén con muy grande ejército, con camellos cargados de especias, y oro en gran abundancia, y piedras preciosas; y cuando vino a Salomón, le propuso todo lo que tenía en su corazón

3 Y Salomón le declaró todas sus preguntas; ninguna cosa se le escondió al rey, que no le declarara

4 Y cuando la reina de Sabá vio toda la sabiduría de Salomón, y la Casa que había edificado

5 asimismo la comida de su mesa, el asiento de sus siervos, el estado y <em>los </em>vestidos de los que le servían, sus maestresalas, y sus holocaustos que sacrificaba en la Casa del SEÑOR, no hubo más espíritu en ella

6 Y dijo al rey: Verdad es lo que oí en mi tierra de tus palabras y de tu sabiduría

7 mas yo no lo creía, hasta que he venido, y mis ojos han visto, que ni aun se me dijo la mitad. Tu sabiduría y bien es mayor que la fama que yo había oído

8 Bienaventurados tus varones, bienaventurados éstos tus siervos, que están continuamente delante de ti, y oyen tu sabiduría

9 El SEÑOR tu Dios sea bendito, que se agradó de ti para ponerte en el trono de Israel; porque el SEÑOR ha amado siempre a Israel, y te ha puesto por rey, para que hagas derecho y justicia

10 Y dio la reina al rey ciento veinte talentos de oro, y muchísima especiería, y piedras preciosas; nunca vino <em>después</em> tan grande copia de especias, como la reina de Sabá dio al rey Salomón

11 La flota de Hiram que había traído el oro de Ofir, traía también de Ofir mucha madera de brasil, y piedras preciosas

12 Y de la madera de brasil hizo el rey balaustres para la Casa del SEÑOR, y para las casas reales, y arpas y salterios para los cantores; nunca vino tanta madera de brasil, ni se ha visto hasta hoy

13 Y el rey Salomón dio a la reina de Sabá todo lo que quiso, y todo lo que pidió, además de lo que Salomón le dio de su mano real. Y ella se volvió, y se fue a su tierra con sus criados

14 El peso del oro que Salomón tenía de renta cada año, era seiscientos sesenta y seis talentos de oro

15 sin <em>lo de</em> los mercaderes, y de la contratación de especias, y de todos los reyes de Arabia, y de los príncipes de la tierra

16 Hizo también el rey Salomón doscientos paveses de oro extendido; seiscientos <em>siclos</em> de oro gastó en cada pavés

17 Asimismo trescientos escudos de oro extendido, en cada uno de los cuales gastó tres libras de oro; y los puso el rey en la casa del bosque del Líbano

18 Hizo también el rey un gran trono de marfil, el cual cubrió de oro purísimo

19 Seis gradas <em>tenía</em> el trono, y lo alto de él era redondo por el respaldo; y por un lado y por la otra tenía apoyos cerca del asiento, junto a los cuales estaban <em>colocados</em> dos leones

20 Estaban también doce leones puestos allí sobre las seis gradas, de un lado y del otro; en ningún otro reino se había hecho trono semejante

21 Y todos los vasos de beber del rey Salomón eran de oro, y asimismo toda la vajilla de la casa del bosque del Líbano era de oro fino; no <em>había</em> plata; <em>porque</em> en tiempo de Salomón no era de estima

22 Porque el rey tenía la flota del mar en Tarsis, con la flota de Hiram. Una vez cada tres años venía la flota de Tarsis, y traía oro, plata, marfil, monos y pavos

23 Y excedía el rey Salomón a todos los reyes de la tierra así en riquezas como en sabiduría

24 Toda la tierra procuraba <em>ver</em> la cara de Salomón, para oír su sabiduría, la cual Dios había puesto en su corazón

25 Y todos le llevaban cada año sus presentes: vasos de oro, vasos de plata, vestidos, armas, especiería, caballos y mulos

26 Y juntó Salomón carros y gente de a caballo; y tenía mil cuatrocientos carros, y doce mil jinetes, los cuales puso en las ciudades de los carros, y con el rey en Jerusalén

27 Y el rey hizo que en Jerusalén <em>la</em> plata <em>llegara a ser</em> como piedras, y cedros como los cabrahigos que están por los valles en abundancia

28 Y sacaban caballos y lienzos a Salomón de Egipto; porque la compañía de los mercaderes del rey compraban caballos y lienzos

29 Y venía y salía de Egipto, el carro por seiscientas piezas de plata, y el caballo por ciento cincuenta; y así los suministraban por mano de ellos <em>a</em> todos los reyes de los heteos, y de Siria

1 When the queen of Sheba heard about the fame of Solomon and his relationship to the LORD, she came to test Solomon with hard questions.

2 Arriving at Jerusalem with a very great caravan—with camels carrying spices, large quantities of gold, and precious stones—she came to Solomon and talked with him about all that she had on her mind.

3 Solomon answered all her questions; nothing was too hard for the king to explain to her.

4 When the queen of Sheba saw all the wisdom of Solomon and the palace he had built,

5 the food on his table, the seating of his officials, the attending servants in their robes, his cupbearers, and the burnt offerings he made at the temple of the LORD, she was overwhelmed.

6 She said to the king, “The report I heard in my own country about your achievements and your wisdom is true.

7 But I did not believe these things until I came and saw with my own eyes. Indeed, not even half was told me; in wisdom and wealth you have far exceeded the report I heard.

8 How happy your people must be! How happy your officials, who continually stand before you and hear your wisdom!

9 Praise be to the LORD your God, who has delighted in you and placed you on the throne of Israel. Because of the LORD’s eternal love for Israel, he has made you king to maintain justice and righteousness.”

10 And she gave the king 120 talents of gold, large quantities of spices, and precious stones. Never again were so many spices brought in as those the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.

11 (Hiram’s ships brought gold from Ophir; and from there they brought great cargoes of almugwood and precious stones.

12 The king used the almugwood to make supports for the temple of the LORD and for the royal palace, and to make harps and lyres for the musicians. So much almugwood has never been imported or seen since that day.)

13 King Solomon gave the queen of Sheba all she desired and asked for, besides what he had given her out of his royal bounty. Then she left and returned with her retinue to her own country.

14 The weight of the gold that Solomon received yearly was 666 talents,

15 not including the revenues from merchants and traders and from all the Arabian kings and the governors of the territories.

16 King Solomon made two hundred large shields of hammered gold; six hundred shekels of gold went into each shield.

17 He also made three hundred small shields of hammered gold, with three minas of gold in each shield. The king put them in the Palace of the Forest of Lebanon.

18 Then the king made a great throne covered with ivory and overlaid with fine gold.

19 The throne had six steps, and its back had a rounded top. On both sides of the seat were armrests, with a lion standing beside each of them.

20 Twelve lions stood on the six steps, one at either end of each step. Nothing like it had ever been made for any other kingdom.

21 All King Solomon’s goblets were gold, and all the household articles in the Palace of the Forest of Lebanon were pure gold. Nothing was made of silver, because silver was considered of little value in Solomon’s days.

22 The king had a fleet of trading ships at sea along with the ships of Hiram. Once every three years it returned, carrying gold, silver and ivory, and apes and baboons.

23 King Solomon was greater in riches and wisdom than all the other kings of the earth.

24 The whole world sought audience with Solomon to hear the wisdom God had put in his heart.

25 Year after year, everyone who came brought a gift—articles of silver and gold, robes, weapons and spices, and horses and mules.

26 Solomon accumulated chariots and horses; he had fourteen hundred chariots and twelve thousand horses, which he kept in the chariot cities and also with him in Jerusalem.

27 The king made silver as common in Jerusalem as stones, and cedar as plentiful as sycamore-fig trees in the foothills.

28 Solomon’s horses were imported from Egypt and from Kue —the royal merchants purchased them from Kue at the current price.

29 They imported a chariot from Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty. They also exported them to all the kings of the Hittites and of the Arameans.
