1 These are the sons of Isra'el: Re'uven, Shim'on, Levi, Y'hudah, Yissakhar, Z'vulun,

The sons of Israel were Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun,
2 Dan, Yosef, Binyamin, Naftali, Gad and Asher.

Dan, Joseph, Benjamin, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher.
3 The sons of Y'hudah: 'Er, Onan and Shelah; the mother of these three was Bat-Shua the Kena'anit. 'Er, Y'hudah's firstborn, was wicked from ADONAI's perspective, so he killed him.

Judah had three sons from Bathshua, a Canaanite woman. Their names were Er, Onan, and Shelah. But the LORD saw that the oldest son, Er, was a wicked man, so he killed him.
4 Tamar his daughter-in-law bore him Peretz and Zerach; thus Y'hudah had five sons altogether.

Later Judah had twin sons from Tamar, his widowed daughter-in-law. Their names were Perez and Zerah. So Judah had five sons in all.
5 The sons of Peretz: Hetzron and Hamul.

The sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.
6 The sons of Zerach: Zimri, Eitan, Heiman, Kalkol and Dara - five of them altogether.

The sons of Zerah were Zimri, Ethan, Heman, Calcol, and Darda —five in all.
7 The sons of Karmi: 'Akhar [troubler], who troubled Isra'el by violating the rule concerning things set aside to be destroyed.

The son of Carmi (a descendant of Zimri) was Achan, who brought disaster on Israel by taking plunder that had been set apart for the LORD .
8 The son of Eitan: 'Azaryah.

The son of Ethan was Azariah.
9 The sons born to Hetzron: Yerachme'el, Ram and K'luvai.

The sons of Hezron were Jerahmeel, Ram, and Caleb.
10 Ram fathered 'Amminadav; 'Amminadav fathered Nachshon prince of the descendants of Y'hudah;

Ram was the father of Amminadab. Amminadab was the father of Nahshon, a leader of Judah.
11 Nachshon fathered Salma; Salma fathered Bo'az;

Nahshon was the father of Salmon. Salmon was the father of Boaz.
12 Bo'az fathered 'Oved; 'Oved fathered Yishai;

Boaz was the father of Obed. Obed was the father of Jesse.
13 and Yishai fathered Eli'av his firstborn, Avinadav second, Shim'a third,

Jesse’s first son was Eliab, his second was Abinadab, his third was Shimea,
14 N'tan'el fourth, Radai fifth,

his fourth was Nethanel, his fifth was Raddai,
15 Otzem sixth, David seventh,

his sixth was Ozem, and his seventh was David.
16 and their sisters Tz'ruyah and Avigayil. The sons of Tz'ruyah: Avshai, Yo'av and 'Asah'el, three of them.

Their sisters were named Zeruiah and Abigail. Zeruiah had three sons named Abishai, Joab, and Asahel.
17 Avigayil was the mother of 'Amasa; the father of 'Amasa was Yeter the Yishma'eli.

Abigail married a man named Jether, an Ishmaelite, and they had a son named Amasa.
18 Kalev the son of Hetzron fathered sons with 'Azuvah his wife (and with Yeri'ot); these were her sons: Yesher, Shovav and Ardon.

Hezron’s son Caleb had sons from his wife Azubah and from Jerioth. Her sons were named Jesher, Shobab, and Ardon.
19 After 'Azuvah died, Kalev married Efrat, who bore him Hur.

After Azubah died, Caleb married Ephrathah, and they had a son named Hur.
20 Hur fathered Uri, and Uri fathered B'tzal'el.

Hur was the father of Uri. Uri was the father of Bezalel.
21 Afterwards, Hetzron had sexual relations with the daughter of Machir the father of Gil'ad; he married her when he was sixty years old, and she bore him S'guv.

When Hezron was sixty years old, he married Gilead’s sister, the daughter of Makir. They had a son named Segub.
22 S'guv fathered Ya'ir, who had twenty-three cities in the land of Gil'ad.

Segub was the father of Jair, who ruled twenty-three towns in the land of Gilead.
23 (But G'shur and Aram took Havot-Ya'ir away from them, along with K'nat and its villages - sixty cities.) All these were descendants of Machir the father of Gil'ad.

(But Geshur and Aram captured the Towns of Jair and also took Kenath and its sixty surrounding villages.) All these were descendants of Makir, the father of Gilead.
24 After Hetzron died in Kalev-Efratah, Aviyah Hetzron's wife bore him Ash'chur the father of T'koa.

Soon after Hezron died in the town of Caleb-ephrathah, his wife Abijah gave birth to a son named Ashhur (the father of Tekoa).
25 The sons of Yerachme'el Hetzron's firstborn: Ram the firstborn, Bunah, Oren, Otzem and Achiyah.

The sons of Jerahmeel, the oldest son of Hezron, were Ram (the firstborn), Bunah, Oren, Ozem, and Ahijah.
26 Yerachme'el had another wife, whose name was 'Atarah; she was the mother of Onam.

Jerahmeel had a second wife named Atarah. She was the mother of Onam.
27 The sons of Ram the firstborn son of Yerachme'el: Ma'atz, Yamin and 'Eker.

The sons of Ram, the oldest son of Jerahmeel, were Maaz, Jamin, and Eker.
28 The sons of Onam: Shamai and Yada. The sons of Shamai: Nadav and Avishur.

The sons of Onam were Shammai and Jada. The sons of Shammai were Nadab and Abishur.
29 Avishur's wife was named Avichayil, and she bore him Achban and Molid.

The sons of Abishur and his wife Abihail were Ahban and Molid.
30 The sons of Nadav: Seled and Apayim. Seled died without having any children.

but Appaim had a son named Ishi. The son of Ishi was Sheshan. Sheshan had a descendant named Ahlai.
32 The sons of Yada the brother of Shamai: Yeter and Yonatan. Yeter died without having any children.

The sons of Jada, Shammai’s brother, were Jether and Jonathan. Jether died without children,
33 The sons of Yonatan: Pelet and Zaza. These were the descendants of Yerachme'el.

but Jonathan had two sons named Peleth and Zaza. These were all descendants of Jerahmeel.
34 Sheshan had no sons, but daughters. Sheshan had a servant, an Egyptian, whose name was Yarcha;

Sheshan had no sons, though he did have daughters. He also had an Egyptian servant named Jarha.
35 Sheshan gave his daughter in marriage to Yarcha his servant, and she bore him 'Atai.

Sheshan gave one of his daughters to be the wife of Jarha, and they had a son named Attai.
36 'Atai fathered Natan, Natan fathered Zavad,

Attai was the father of Nathan. Nathan was the father of Zabad.
37 Zavad fathered Eflal, Eflal fathered 'Oved,

Zabad was the father of Ephlal. Ephlal was the father of Obed.
38 'Oved fathered Yehu, Yehu fathered 'Azaryah,

Obed was the father of Jehu. Jehu was the father of Azariah.
39 'Azaryah fathered Heletz, Heletz fathered El'asah,

Azariah was the father of Helez. Helez was the father of Eleasah.
40 El'asah fathered Sismai, Sismai fathered Shalum,

Eleasah was the father of Sismai. Sismai was the father of Shallum.
41 Shalum fathered Y'kamyah and Y'kamyah fathered Elishama.

Shallum was the father of Jekamiah. Jekamiah was the father of Elishama.
42 The sons of Kalev the brother of Yerachme'el: Mesha his firstborn, who was the father of Zif; and the sons of Mareshah the father of Hevron.

The descendants of Caleb, the brother of Jerahmeel, included Mesha (the firstborn), who became the father of Ziph. Caleb’s descendants also included the sons of Mareshah, the father of Hebron.
43 The sons of Hevron: Korach, Tapuach, Rekem and Shema.

The sons of Hebron were Korah, Tappuah, Rekem, and Shema.
44 Shema fathered Racham the father of Yorke'am, and Rekem fathered Shamai.

Shema was the father of Raham. Raham was the father of Jorkeam. Rekem was the father of Shammai.
45 The son of Shamai was Ma'on, and Ma'on was the father of Beit-Tzur.

46 'Eifah, Kalev's concubine, bore Haran, Motza and Gazez; and Haran fathered Gazez.

Caleb’s concubine Ephah gave birth to Haran, Moza, and Gazez. Haran was the father of Gazez.
47 The sons of Yahdai: Regem, Yotam, Geshan, Pelet, 'Eifah and Sha'af.

The sons of Jahdai were Regem, Jotham, Geshan, Pelet, Ephah, and Shaaph.
48 Ma'akhah, Kalev's concubine, bore Shever and Tirchanah.

Another of Caleb’s concubines, Maacah, gave birth to Sheber and Tirhanah.
49 [The wife of] Sha'af the father of Madmanah bore Sh'va the father of Machbenah and the father of Giv'a. The daughter of Kalev was 'Akhsah.

She also gave birth to Shaaph (the father of Madmannah) and Sheva (the father of Macbenah and Gibea). Caleb also had a daughter named Acsah.
50 These were the descendants of Kalev. The sons of Hur the firstborn of Efratah: Shoval the father of Kiryat-Ye'arim,

These were all descendants of Caleb. Descendants of Caleb’s Son Hur The sons of Hur, the oldest son of Caleb’s wife Ephrathah, were Shobal (the founder of Kiriath-jearim),

52 Shoval the father of Kiryat-Ye'arim had sons: HaRo'eh and half of the [inhabitants of] M'nuchot.

The descendants of Shobal (the founder of Kiriath-jearim) were Haroeh, half the Manahathites,
53 The families of Kiryat-Ye'arim: the Yitri, the Puti, the Shumati and the Mishra'i; from them came the Tzor'ati and the Eshta'uli.

and the families of Kiriath-jearim—the Ithrites, Puthites, Shumathites, and Mishraites, from whom came the people of Zorah and Eshtaol.
54 The sons of Salma: Beit-Lechem, the N'tofati, 'Atrot-Beit-Yo'av, half of the Manachati, the Tzor'i,

The descendants of Salma were the people of Bethlehem, the Netophathites, Atroth-beth-joab, the other half of the Manahathites, the Zorites,
55 the families of scribes that lived in Ya'betz, the Tir'atim, the Shim'atim and the Sukhatim. These are the Kinim, who came from Hamat, father of the house of Rekhav.

and the families of scribes living at Jabez—the Tirathites, Shimeathites, and Sucathites. All these were Kenites who descended from Hammath, the father of the family of Recab.
