1 Corinthians 16

NCV

1 Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I directed the assemblies of Galatia, so do *ye* do also.
1 Now I will write about the collection of money for God's people. Do the same thing I told the Galatian churches to do:
2 On [the] first of [the] week let each of you put by at home, laying up [in] whatever [degree] he may have prospered, that there may be no collections when I come.
2 On the first day of every week, each one of you should put aside money as you have been blessed. Save it up so you will not have to collect money after I come.
3 And when I am arrived, whomsoever ye shall approve, these I will send with letters to carry your bounty to Jerusalem:
3 When I arrive, I will send whomever you approve to take your gift to Jerusalem. I will send them with letters of introduction,
4 and if it be suitable that *I* also should go, they shall go with me.
4 and if it seems good for me to go also, they will go along with me.
5 But I will come to you when I shall have gone through Macedonia; for I do go through Macedonia.
5 I plan to go through Macedonia, so I will come to you after I go through there.
6 But perhaps I will stay with you, or even winter with you, that *ye* may set me forward wheresoever I may go.
6 Perhaps I will stay with you for a time or even all winter. Then you can help me on my trip, wherever I go.
7 For I will not see you now in passing, for I hope to remain a certain time with you, if the Lord permit.
7 I do not want to see you now just in passing. I hope to stay a longer time with you if the Lord allows it.
8 But I remain in Ephesus until Pentecost.
8 But I will stay at Ephesus until Pentecost,
9 For a great door is opened to me and an effectual [one], and [the] adversaries many.
9 because a good opportunity for a great and growing work has been given to me now. And there are many people working against me.
10 Now if Timotheus come, see that he may be with you without fear; for he works the work of the Lord, even as I.
10 If Timothy comes to you, see to it that he has nothing to fear with you, because he is working for the Lord just as I am.
11 Let not therefore any one despise him; but set him forward in peace, that he may come to me; for I expect him with the brethren.
11 So none of you should treat Timothy as unimportant, but help him on his trip in peace so that he can come back to me. I am expecting him to come with the brothers.
12 Now concerning the brother Apollos, I begged him much that he would go to you with the brethren; but it was not at all [his] will to go now; but he will come when he shall have good opportunity.
12 Now about our brother Apollos: I strongly encouraged him to visit you with the other brothers. He did not at all want to come now; he will come when he has the opportunity.
13 Be vigilant; stand fast in the faith; quit yourselves like men; be strong.
13 Be alert. Continue strong in the faith. Have courage, and be strong.
14 Let all things ye do be done in love.
14 Do everything in love.
15 But I beseech you, brethren, (ye know the house of Stephanas, that it is the first-fruits of Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the saints for service,)
15 You know that the family of Stephanas were the first believers in Southern Greece and that they have given themselves to the service of God's people. I ask you, brothers and sisters,
16 that *ye* should also be subject to such, and to every one joined in the work and labouring.
16 to follow the leading of people like these and anyone else who works and serves with them.
17 But I rejoice in the coming of Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus; because *they* have supplied what was lacking on your part.
17 I am happy that Stephanas, Fortunatus, and Achaicus have come. You are not here, but they have filled your place.
18 For they have refreshed my spirit and yours: own therefore such.
18 They have refreshed my spirit and yours. You should recognize the value of people like these.
19 The assemblies of Asia salute you. Aquila and Priscilla, with the assembly in their house, salute you much in [the] Lord.
19 The churches in the country of Asia send greetings to you. Aquila and Priscilla greet you in the Lord, as does the church that meets in their house.
20 All the brethren salute you. Salute one another with a holy kiss.
20 All the brothers and sisters here send greetings. Give each other a holy kiss when you meet.
21 The salutation of [me] Paul with my own hand.
21 I, Paul, am writing this greeting with my own hand.
22 If any one love not the Lord [Jesus Christ] let him be Anathema Maranatha.
22 If anyone does not love the Lord, let him be separated from God -- lost forever! Come, O Lord!
23 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ [be] with you.
23 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you.
24 My love [be] with you all in Christ Jesus. Amen.
24 My love be with all of you in Christ Jesus.
