1 Corinthians 16

NIV

CJB

1 Now about the collection for the Lord’s people: Do what I told the Galatian churches to do.
1 Now, in regard to the collection being made for God's people: you are to do the same as I directed the congregations in Galatia to do.
2 On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.
2 Every week, on Motza'ei-Shabbat, each of you should set some money aside, according to his resources, and save it up; so that when I come I won't have to do fundraising.
3 Then, when I arrive, I will give letters of introduction to the men you approve and send them with your gift to Jerusalem.
3 And when I arrive, I will give letters of introduction to the people you have approved, and I will send them to carry your gift to Yerushalayim.
4 If it seems advisable for me to go also, they will accompany me.
4 If it seems appropriate that I go too, they will go along with me.
5 After I go through Macedonia, I will come to you—for I will be going through Macedonia.
5 I will visit you after I have gone through Macedonia, for I am intending to pass through Macedonia,
6 Perhaps I will stay with you for a while, or even spend the winter, so that you can help me on my journey, wherever I go.
6 and I may stay with you or even spend the winter, so that you may help me continue my travels wherever I may go.
7 For I do not want to see you now and make only a passing visit; I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord permits.
7 For I don't want to see you now, when I am only passing through; because I am hoping to spend some time with you, if the Lord allows it.
8 But I will stay on at Ephesus until Pentecost,
8 But I will remain in Ephesus until Shavu'ot,
9 because a great door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many who oppose me.
9 because a great and important door has opened for my work, and there are many people opposing me.
10 When Timothy comes, see to it that he has nothing to fear while he is with you, for he is carrying on the work of the Lord, just as I am.
10 If Timothy comes, see that he has nothing to be afraid of while he is with you; for he is doing the Lord's work, just as I am.
11 No one, then, should treat him with contempt. Send him on his way in peace so that he may return to me. I am expecting him along with the brothers.
11 So let no one treat him with disrespect. Help him on his way in peace, so that he will return to me, for the brothers and I are expecting him.
12 Now about our brother Apollos: I strongly urged him to go to you with the brothers. He was quite unwilling to go now, but he will go when he has the opportunity.
12 As for brother Apollos, I strongly urged him to go and visit you along with the other brothers; and although it was not at all his desire to come at this time, he will come when he has the opportunity.
13 Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.
13 Stay alert, stand firm in the faith, behave like a mentsh, grow strong.
14 Do everything in love.
14 Let everything you do be done in love.
15 You know that the household of Stephanas were the first converts in Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the service of the Lord’s people. I urge you, brothers and sisters,
15 Now, brothers, you know that the household of Stephanas were the first people in Achaia to put their trust in the Messiah, and they have devoted themselves to serving God's people.
16 to submit to such people and to everyone who joins in the work and labors at it.
16 I urge you to submit yourselves to people like these and to everyone who works and toils with them.
17 I was glad when Stephanas, Fortunatus and Achaicus arrived, because they have supplied what was lacking from you.
17 I am glad that Stephanas and Fortunatus and Achaicus are here, because they have helped make up for your not being here.
18 For they refreshed my spirit and yours also. Such men deserve recognition.
18 They have refreshed my spirit, just as they have yours. I want you to show appreciation for people like these.
19 The churches in the province of Asia send you greetings. Aquila and Priscilla greet you warmly in the Lord, and so does the church that meets at their house.
19 The congregations in the province of Asia send greetings to you. Aquila and Priscilla greet you in union with the Lord, as does the congregation that meets in their house.
20 All the brothers and sisters here send you greetings. Greet one another with a holy kiss.
20 All the brothers send you their greetings. Greet one another with a holy kiss.
21 I, Paul, write this greeting in my own hand.
21 Now, I Sha'ul, greet you in my own handwriting.
22 If anyone does not love the Lord, let that person be cursed! Come, Lord !
22 If anyone does not love the Lord, a curse on him! Marana, ta! [Our Lord, come!]
23 The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you.
23 May the grace of the Lord Yeshua be with you.
24 My love to all of you in Christ Jesus. Amen.
24 My love is with you all, in union with the Messiah Yeshua.
