1 Saludos de Pablo<br />Yo, Pablo, elegido por la voluntad de Dios para ser un apóstol de Cristo Jesús, escribo esta carta junto con nuestro hermano Sóstenes.

2 Va dirigida a la iglesia de Dios en Corinto,<br /> a ustedes que han sido llamados por Dios para ser su pueblo santo. Él los hizo santos por medio de Cristo Jesús,<br /> tal como lo hizo con todos los que en todas partes invocan el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Señor de ellos y de nosotros.

3 Que Dios nuestro Padre y el Señor Jesucristo les den gracia y paz.

4 Pablo da gracias a Dios<br />Siempre doy gracias a mi Dios por ustedes y por los dones inmerecidos que les dio ahora que pertenecen a Cristo Jesús.

5 Por medio de él, Dios ha enriquecido la iglesia de ustedes en todo sentido, con toda la elocuencia y todo el conocimiento que tienen.

6 Eso confirma que es verdad lo que les dije acerca de Cristo.

7 Ahora tienen todos los dones espirituales que necesitan mientras esperan con anhelo el regreso de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

8 Él los mantendrá firmes hasta el final, para que estén libres de toda culpa el día que nuestro Señor Jesucristo vuelva.

9 Dios lo hará porque él es fiel para hacer lo que dice y los ha invitado a que tengan comunión con su Hijo, Jesucristo nuestro Señor.

10 Divisiones en la iglesia<br />Amados hermanos, les ruego por la autoridad de nuestro Señor Jesucristo que vivan en armonía los unos con los otros. Que no haya divisiones en la iglesia. Por el contrario, sean todos de un mismo parecer, unidos en pensamiento y propósito.

11 Pues algunos de la casa de Cloé me contaron de las peleas entre ustedes, mis amados hermanos.

12 Algunos de ustedes dicen: «Yo soy seguidor de Pablo». Otros dicen: «Yo sigo a Apolos» o «Yo sigo a Pedro»,<br /> o «Yo sigo únicamente a Cristo».

13 ¿Acaso Cristo está dividido en facciones? ¿Fui yo, Pablo, crucificado por ustedes? ¿Fue alguno de ustedes bautizado en el nombre de Pablo? ¡Por supuesto que no!

14 Agradezco a Dios que no bauticé a ninguno de ustedes excepto a Crispo y a Gayo,

15 porque ahora nadie puede decir que fue bautizado en mi nombre.

16 (Ah, sí, también bauticé a los de la casa de Estéfanas, pero no recuerdo haber bautizado a nadie más).

17 Pues Cristo no me envió a bautizar sino a predicar la Buena Noticia, y no con palabras ingeniosas, por temor a que la cruz de Cristo perdiera su poder.

18 La sabiduría de Dios<br />¡El mensaje de la cruz es una ridiculez para los que van rumbo a la destrucción! Pero nosotros, que vamos en camino a la salvación, sabemos que es el poder mismo de Dios.

19 Como dicen las Escrituras:<br />«Destruiré la sabiduría de los sabios<br />y desecharé la inteligencia de los inteligentes»<br />.

20 Así que, ¿dónde deja eso a los filósofos, a los estudiosos y a los especialistas en debates de este mundo? Dios ha hecho que la sabiduría de este mundo parezca una ridiculez.

21 Ya que Dios, en su sabiduría, se aseguró de que el mundo nunca lo conociera por medio de la sabiduría humana, usó nuestra predicación «ridícula» para salvar a los que creen.

22 Es ridícula para los judíos, que piden señales del cielo. Y es ridícula para los griegos, que buscan la sabiduría humana.

23 Entonces cuando predicamos que Cristo fue crucificado, los judíos se ofenden y los gentiles<br /> dicen que son puras tonterías.

24 Sin embargo, para los que Dios llamó a la salvación, tanto judíos como gentiles,<br /> Cristo es el poder de Dios y la sabiduría de Dios.

25 Ese plan «ridículo» de Dios es más sabio que el más sabio de los planes humanos, y la debilidad de Dios es más fuerte que la mayor fuerza humana.

26 Recuerden, amados hermanos, que pocos de ustedes eran sabios a los ojos del mundo o poderosos o ricos<br /> cuando Dios los llamó.

27 En cambio, Dios eligió lo que el mundo considera ridículo para avergonzar a los que se creen sabios. Y escogió cosas que no tienen poder para avergonzar a los poderosos.

28 Dios escogió lo despreciado por el mundo<br /> —lo que se considera como nada— y lo usó para convertir en nada lo que el mundo considera importante.

29 Como resultado, nadie puede jamás jactarse en presencia de Dios.

30 Dios los ha unido a ustedes con Cristo Jesús. Dios hizo que él fuera la sabiduría misma para nuestro beneficio. Cristo nos hizo justos ante Dios; nos hizo puros y santos y nos liberó del pecado.

31 Por lo tanto, como dicen las Escrituras: «Si alguien quiere jactarse, que se jacte solamente del Señor»<br />.

1 Paul, called to be an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and our brother Sosthenes,

2 To the church of God in Corinth, to those sanctified in Christ Jesus and called to be his holy people, together with all those everywhere who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ—their Lord and ours:

3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

4 I always thank my God for you because of his grace given you in Christ Jesus.

5 For in him you have been enriched in every way—with all kinds of speech and with all knowledge—

6 God thus confirming our testimony about Christ among you.

7 Therefore you do not lack any spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed.

8 He will also keep you firm to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9 God is faithful, who has called you into fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

10 I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly united in mind and thought.

11 My brothers and sisters, some from Chloe’s household have informed me that there are quarrels among you.

12 What I mean is this: One of you says, “I follow Paul”; another, “I follow Apollos”; another, “I follow Cephas ”; still another, “I follow Christ.”

13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized in the name of Paul?

14 I thank God that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius,

15 so no one can say that you were baptized in my name.

16 (Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I don’t remember if I baptized anyone else.)

17 For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel—not with wisdom and eloquence, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power.

18 For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

19 For it is written: “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise; the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate.”

20 Where is the wise person? Where is the teacher of the law? Where is the philosopher of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?

21 For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe.

22 Jews demand signs and Greeks look for wisdom,

23 but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles,

24 but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than human wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than human strength.

26 Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth.

27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.

28 God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are,

29 so that no one may boast before him.

30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.

31 Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”
