1 Après que Salomon eut achevé de bâtir la maison de l'Éternel, et la maison royale, et tout ce que Salomon prit plaisir à faire,

And it came to pass, when Sh’lomo had completed the building of the Beis Hashem, and the Bais HaMelech, and all Sh’lomo’s desire which he was pleased to do,
2 L'Éternel apparut à Salomon pour la seconde fois, comme il lui était apparu à Gabaon.

That Hashem appeared to Sh’lomo the second time, as He had appeared unto him at Giveon.
3 Et l'Éternel lui dit: J'ai exaucé ta prière et la supplication que tu m'as présentée; j'ai sanctifié cette maison que tu as bâtie, pour y mettre mon nom à jamais; et mes yeux et mon cœur seront toujours là.

And Hashem said unto him, I have heard thy tefillah and thy techinnah, that thou hast made before Me; I have set apart as kodesh this Beis [HaMikdash], which thou hast built, to put Shemi there ad olam; and Mine eyes and Mine lev shall be there kol hayamim.
4 Pour toi, si tu marches devant moi, comme David, ton père, a marché, avec intégrité de cœur et droiture, en faisant tout ce que je t'ai commandé, et si tu gardes mes statuts et mes ordonnances,

And if thou wilt walk before Me, just as Dovid Avicha walked, in tohm (integrity, guilelessness) of lev, and in yashar, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and will be shomer over My chukkot and My mishpatim;
5 Alors j'affermirai le trône de ton royaume sur Israël à jamais, comme j'en ai parlé à David, ton père, en disant: Il ne te manquera point de successeur sur le trône d'Israël.

Then I will establish the kisse (throne) of thy kingdom over Yisroel l’olam, as I promised to Dovid Avicha, saying, There shall not yikaret (be cut off, fail) thee an ish upon the Kisse Yisroel.
6 Mais si vous vous détournez de moi, vous et vos fils, et que vous ne gardiez pas mes commandements et mes statuts que j'ai mis devant vous, et si vous allez et servez d'autres dieux et vous prosternez devant eux;

But if ye shall at all turn from following Me, ye or your banim, and will not be shomer over My mitzvot and My chukkot which I have set before you, but go and serve elohim acherim, and hishtachaveh (worship) them;
7 Je retrancherai Israël de dessus la terre que je lui ai donnée, je rejetterai loin de moi cette maison que j'ai consacrée à mon nom, et Israël sera la fable et la risée de tous les peuples.

Then will I cut off Yisroel out of the adamah which I have given them; and this Beis [HaMikdash], which I have set apart as kodesh for Shemi, will I cast out of My sight; and Yisroel shall be a mashal (proverb) and a sheninah (taunt, byword) among kol ha’ammim;
8 Et quant à cette maison, qui aura été haut élevée, quiconque passera près d'elle sera étonné et sifflera; et l'on dira: Pourquoi l'Éternel a-t-il ainsi traité ce pays et cette maison?

And at this Beis, which is elyon, every one that passeth by it shall be appalled, and shall hiss; and they shall say, Why hath Hashem done thus unto HaAretz Hazot, and to this Beis?
9 Et on répondra: Parce qu'ils ont abandonné l'Éternel leur Dieu, qui avait tiré leurs pères hors du pays d'Égypte, et qu'ils se sont attachés à d'autres dieux; qu'ils se sont prosternés devant eux et les ont servis; c'est pour cela que l'Éternel a fait venir sur eux tous ces maux.

And they shall answer, Because they forsook Hashem Eloheichem who brought forth their avot out of Eretz Mitzrayim, and have taken hold upon elohim acherim, and have worshiped them, and served them; therefore hath Hashem brought upon them all this ra’ah.
10 Or au bout des vingt ans pendant lesquels Salomon bâtit les deux maisons, la maison de l'Éternel et la maison royale,

And it came to pass at the end of esrim shanim, when Sh’lomo had built the two batim, the Beis Hashem, and the Bais HaMelech,
11 Hiram, roi de Tyr, ayant fourni à Salomon du bois de cèdre, du bois de cyprès et de l'or, autant qu'il en avait voulu, le roi Salomon donna à Hiram vingt villes, au pays de Galilée.

(Now Chiram Melech Tzor had furnished Sh’lomo with cedar trees and cypress trees, and with zahav, according to all his desire), that then HaMelech Sh’lomo gave Chiram esrim ir (twenty towns) in Eretz HaGalil.
12 Et Hiram sortit de Tyr pour voir les villes que Salomon lui avait données, mais elles ne lui plurent point;

And Chiram came out from Tzor (Tyre) to see the towns which Sh’lomo had given him; and they pleased him not.
13 Et il dit: Quelles villes m'as-tu données, mon frère? Et il les appela le pays de Cabul (comme rien), nom qu'elles ont conservé jusqu'à ce jour.

And he said, What towns are these which thou hast given me, achi (my brother)? And he called them Eretz Kavul unto this day.
14 Hiram avait envoyé au roi cent vingt talents d'or.

And Chiram sent to HaMelech 120 talents of zahav.
15 Et voici ce qui concerne la corvée que le roi Salomon leva pour bâtir la maison de l'Éternel, et sa maison, et Millo, et la muraille de Jérusalem, et Hatsor, et Méguiddo, et Guézer.

And this is the account of the mas (forced labor) which HaMelech Sh’lomo conscripted; to build the Beis Hashem, and his own Bais, and Millo, and the Chomat Yerushalayim, and Chatzor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.
16 Pharaon, roi d'Égypte, était monté et avait pris Guézer et l'avait brûlée; et il avait tué les Cananéens qui habitaient cette ville; mais il la donna pour dot à sa fille, femme de Salomon.

For Pharaoh Melech Mitzrayim had gone up, and captured Gezer, and burned it with eish, and slain the Kena’ani that dwelt in the ir, and given it for shilluchim (going-away presents) unto his bat eshet Sh’lomo.
17 Salomon bâtit donc Guézer, et Beth-Horon la basse;

And Sh’lomo rebuilt Gezer, and Lower Beit Choron,
18 Et Baalath, et Thadmor, dans la partie déserte du pays;

And Baalat, and Tadmor in the midbar, in the land,
19 Toutes les villes servant de magasins appartenant à Salomon, les villes pour les chars, les villes pour la cavalerie, et tout ce qu'il plut à Salomon de bâtir à Jérusalem, au Liban, et dans tout le pays de sa domination.

And all the storage cities that Sh’lomo had, and cities for his merkavot, and cities for his parashim (calvary), and that which Sh’lomo desired to build in Yerushalayim, and in Levanon, and in all the eretz of his memshalet.
20 Tout le peuple qui était resté des Amoréens, des Héthiens, des Phéréziens, des Héviens et des Jébusiens, qui n'étaient point des enfants d'Israël;

And kol haAm that were left of HaEmori (the Amorites), HaChitti (Hittites), HaPerizzi (Perizzites), HaChivi (Hivites), and Yevusi (Jebusites), which were not of the Bnei Yisroel,
21 Leurs descendants, qui étaient demeurés après eux au pays et que les enfants d'Israël n'avaient pu vouer à l'interdit, Salomon les leva comme serfs de corvée, ce qu'ils ont été jusqu'à ce jour.

Their banim that were left after them in HaAretz, whom the Bnei Yisroel also were not able utterly to destroy, upon those did Sh’lomo conscript mas of oved (bondservice) unto this day.
22 Et d'entre les enfants d'Israël Salomon ne fit point de serf; mais ils furent gens de guerre, et ses officiers, et ses principaux chefs et ses capitaines, et chefs de ses chars et de sa cavalerie.

But of the Bnei Yisroel did Sh’lomo make no eved; but they were anshei hamilchamah, and his avadim, and his sarim, and his shalishim (captains), and commanders of his merkavot, and his parashim.
23 Quant aux chefs préposés aux travaux de Salomon, ils étaient cinq cent cinquante, ayant autorité sur le peuple qui faisait l'ouvrage.

These were the chief of the officials that were over the melakhah (work) of Sh’lomo five hundred and fifty, harodim (the ones supervising) the people that wrought in the melakhah.
24 Mais ce fut quand la fille de Pharaon monta de la cité de David dans sa maison que Salomon lui avait bâtie, qu'il construisit Millo.

But Bat Pharaoh came up out of the Ir Dovid unto her Bais (Palace) which Sh’lomo had built for her; then did he build the Millo.
25 Et Salomon offrait, trois fois l'an, des holocaustes et des sacrifices de prospérités sur l'autel qu'il avait construit à l'Éternel, et il offrait des parfums sur celui qui était devant l'Éternel. Et il acheva la maison.

And three times in shanah did Sh’lomo offer olot and shelamim upon the Mizbe’ach which he built unto Hashem and he burned ketoret upon the Mizbe’ach that was before Hashem. So he completed the Beis.
26 Le roi Salomon équipa aussi une flotte à Etsjon-Guéber, près d'Éloth, sur les bords de la mer Rouge, au pays d'Édom.

And HaMelech Sh’lomo built a fleet of oniyyot in Etzyon-Gever, which is near Eilat, on the shore of the Yam Suf, in Eretz Edom.
27 Et Hiram envoya de ses serviteurs, gens de mer et qui entendaient la marine, pour être avec les serviteurs de Salomon sur cette flotte.

And Chiram sent to the fleet of oniyyot his avadim, anshei oniyyot (shipmen, sailors) that had da’as hayam (knowledge of the sea), with the avadim of Sh’lomo.
28 Et ils allèrent à Ophir et y prirent de l'or, quatre cent vingt talents, et l'apportèrent au roi Salomon.

And they came to Ophir, and brought back from there zahav, four hundred and twenty talents, and brought it to HaMelech Sh’lomo.
