1 Exhorto, pues, ante todo que se hagan rogativas, oraciones, peticiones y acciones de gracias por todos los hombres;

2 por los reyes y por todos los que están en autoridad, para que podamos vivir una vida tranquila y sosegada con toda piedad y dignidad.

3 Porque esto es bueno y agradable delante de Dios nuestro Salvador,

4 el cual quiere que todos los hombres sean salvos y vengan al pleno conocimiento de la verdad.

5 Porque hay un solo Dios, y también un solo mediador entre Dios y los hombres, Cristo Jesús hombre,

6 quien se dio a sí mismo en rescate por todos, testimonio dado a su debido tiempo.

7 Y para esto yo fui constituido predicador y apóstol (digo la verdad en Cristo, no miento) como maestro de los gentiles en fe y verdad.

8 Por consiguiente, quiero que en todo lugar los hombres oren levantando manos santas, sin ira ni discusiones.

9 Asimismo, que las mujeres se vistan con ropa decorosa, con pudor y modestia, no con peinado ostentoso, no con oro, o perlas, o vestidos costosos;

10 sino con buenas obras, como corresponde a las mujeres que profesan la piedad.

11 Que la mujer aprenda calladamente, con toda obediencia.

12 Yo no permito que la mujer enseñe ni que ejerza autoridad sobre el hombre, sino que permanezca callada.

13 Porque Adán fue creado primero, después Eva.

14 Y Adán no fue el engañado, sino que la mujer, siendo engañada completamente, cayó en transgresión.

15 Pero se salvará engendrando hijos, si permanece en fe, amor y santidad, con modestia.

The Message Bible MSG

1 The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know.

2 Pray especially for rulers and their governments to rule well so we can be quietly about our business of living simply, in humble contemplation.

3 This is the way our Savior God wants us to live.

4 He wants not only us but everyone saved, you know, everyone to get to know the truth we've learned:

5 that there's one God and only one, and one Priest-Mediator between God and us - Jesus,

6 who offered himself in exchange for everyone held captive by sin, to set them all free. Eventually the news is going to get out.

7 This and this only has been my appointed work: getting this news to those who have never heard of God, and explaining how it works by simple faith and plain truth.

8 Since prayer is at the bottom of all this, what I want mostly is for men to pray - not shaking angry fists at enemies but raising holy hands to God.

9 And I want women to get in there with the men in humility before God, not primping before a mirror or chasing the latest fashions

10 but doing something beautiful for God and becoming beautiful doing it.

11 I don't let women take over and tell the men what to do.

12 They should study to be quiet and obedient along with everyone else.

13 Adam was made first, then Eve;

14 woman was deceived first - our pioneer in sin! - with Adam right on her heels.

15 On the other hand, her childbearing brought about salvation, reversing Eve. But this salvation only comes to those who continue in faith, love, and holiness, gathering it all into maturity. You can depend on this.
