1 Corinthians 12

WBT 1 Now concerning spiritual [gifts], brethren, I would not have you ignorant. NIV 1 Now about the gifts of the Spirit, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be uninformed. WBT 2 Ye know that ye were Gentiles, carried away to these dumb idols, even as ye were led. NIV 2 You know that when you were pagans, somehow or other you were influenced and led astray to mute idols. WBT 3 Wherefore I give you to understand, that no man speaking by the Spirit of God, calleth Jesus accursed: and [that] no man can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the Holy Spirit. NIV 3 Therefore I want you to know that no one who is speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus be cursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit. WBT 4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. NIV 4 There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. WBT 5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. NIV 5 There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. WBT 6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God who worketh all in all. NIV 6 There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work. WBT 7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man for profit. NIV 7 Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good. WBT 8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another, the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; NIV 8 To one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, WBT 9 To another, faith by the same Spirit; to another, the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; NIV 9 to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, WBT 10 To another, the working of miracles; to another, prophecy; to another, discerning of spirits; to another, [divers] kinds of languages; to another, the interpretation of languages: NIV 10 to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. WBT 11 But all these worketh that one and the same Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. NIV 11 All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines. WBT 12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also [is] Christ. NIV 12 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. WBT 13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Gentiles, whether bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. NIV 13 For we were all baptized by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. WBT 14 For the body is not one member, but many. NIV 14 Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many. WBT 15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? NIV 15 Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. WBT 16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body? NIV 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. WBT 17 If the whole body [were] an eye, where [were] the hearing? If the whole [were] hearing, where [were] the smelling? NIV 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? WBT 18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him. NIV 18 But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. WBT 19 And if they were all one member, where [were] the body? NIV 19 If they were all one part, where would the body be? WBT 20 But now [are they] many members, yet but one body. NIV 20 As it is, there are many parts, but one body. WBT 21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, I have no need of thee: nor again the head to the feet, I have no need of you. NIV 21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” WBT 22 Nay, much more those members of the body, which seem to be more feeble, are necessary: NIV 22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, WBT 23 And those [members] of the body, which we think to be less honorable, upon these we bestow more abundant honor; and our uncomely [parts] have more abundant comeliness. NIV 23 and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, WBT 24 For our comely [parts] have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honor to that [part] which lacked: NIV 24 while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, WBT 25 That there should be no schism in the body; but [that] the members should have the same care one for another. NIV 25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. WBT 26 And thus if one member suffers all the members suffer with it; or, if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it. NIV 26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it. WBT 27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. NIV 27 Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. WBT 28 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondly prophets, thirdly teachers, next miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of languages. NIV 28 And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues. WBT 29 [Are] all apostles? [are] all prophets? [are] all teachers? [are] all workers of miracles? NIV 29 Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles? WBT 30 Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak in languages? do all interpret? NIV 30 Do all have gifts of healing? Do all speak in tongues ? Do all interpret? WBT 31 But covet earnestly the best gifts. And yet I show to you a more excellent way. NIV 31 Now eagerly desire the greater gifts. And yet I will show you the most excellent way.
