1 Jotam tenía veinticinco años cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó dieciséis años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre era Jerusa, hija de Sadoc.

Jotham was twenty-five years old when he became king; he reigned sixteen years at Jerusalem. His mother was Jerusha the daughter of Zadok.
2 E hizo lo recto ante los ojos del SEÑOR, conforme a todo lo que su padre Uzías había hecho; pero no entró en el templo del SEÑOR. Y el pueblo seguía corrompiéndose.

In God's eyes he lived a good life, following the path marked out by his father Uzziah. Unlike his father, though, he didn't desecrate The Temple of God. But the people pushed right on in their lives of corruption.

Jotham constructed the Upper Gate of The Temple of God, considerably extended the Wall of the Ophel,
4 Edificó además ciudades en la región montañosa de Judá, y edificó fortalezas y torres en los bosques.

and built cities in the high country of Judah and forts and towers down in the forests.
5 También guerreó contra el rey de los amonitas y los venció, y los amonitas le dieron aquel año cien talentos de plata, diez mil coros de trigo y diez mil de cebada. Los amonitas le pagaron también esto en el segundo y en el tercer año.

He fought and beat the king of the Ammonites - that year the Ammonites turned over three and a quarter tons of silver and about sixty-five bushels of wheat, and another sixty-five bushels of barley. They repeated this for the next two years.
6 Y Jotam se hizo poderoso porque ordenó sus caminos delante del SEÑOR su Dios.

Jotham's strength was rooted in his steady and determined life of obedience to God.

9 Y durmió Jotam con sus padres, y lo sepultaron en la ciudad de David; y su hijo Acaz reinó en su lugar.

Jotham died and was buried in the City of David. His son Ahaz became the next king.
