1 Guō le yī nián , dào liè wáng chū zhàn de shíhou , Dàwèi yòu chāi paì Yuēyē , shuaìlǐng chénpú hé Yǐsèliè zhòngrén chū zhàn . tāmen jiù dá baì Yàmén rén , wéi gōng là bā . Dàwèi réng zhù zaì Yēlùsǎlĕng .

In the spring, at the time when kings go off to war, David sent Joab out with the king’s men and the whole Israelite army. They destroyed the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah. But David remained in Jerusalem.
2 Yī rì , taìyáng píng xī , Dàwèi cóng chuáng shàng qǐlai , zaì wánggōng de píng dǐng shàng yóuxíng , kànjian yī gè fùrén shù yù , róngmào shén mĕi ,

One evening David got up from his bed and walked around on the roof of the palace. From the roof he saw a woman bathing. The woman was very beautiful,
3 Dàwèi jiù chāi rén dá tīng nà fùrén shì shuí . yǒu rén shuō , tā shì yǐ lián de nǚér , Hèrén Wūlìyà de qī bá Shìbā .

and David sent someone to find out about her. The man said, “She is Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam and the wife of Uriah the Hittite.”
4 Dàwèi chāi rén qù , jiāng fùrén jiē lái . nàshí tāde yuè jīng cái dé jiéjìng . tā lái le , Dàwèi yǔ tā tóngfáng , tā jiù huí jiā qù le .

Then David sent messengers to get her. She came to him, and he slept with her. (Now she was purifying herself from her monthly uncleanness.) Then she went back home.

The woman conceived and sent word to David, saying, “I am pregnant.”
6 Dàwèi chāi rén dào Yuēyē nàli , shuō , nǐ dǎfa Hèrén Wūlìyà dào wǒ zhèlǐ lái . Yuēyē jiù dǎfa Wūlìyà qù jiàn Dàwèi .

So David sent this word to Joab: “Send me Uriah the Hittite.” And Joab sent him to David.
7 Wūlìyà lái le , Dàwèi wèn Yuēyē hǎo , yĕ wèn bīng hǎo , yòu wèn zhēng zhàn de shì zĕnyàng .

When Uriah came to him, David asked him how Joab was, how the soldiers were and how the war was going.
8 Dàwèi duì Wūlìyà shuō , nǐ huí jiā qù , xǐ xǐ jiǎo ba . Wūlìyà chū le wánggōng , suíhòu wáng sòng tā yī fēn shíwù .

Then David said to Uriah, “Go down to your house and wash your feet.” So Uriah left the palace, and a gift from the king was sent after him.
9 Wūlìyà què hé tā zhǔrén de púrén yītóng shuì zaì gōng mén waì , méiyǒu huí jiā qù .

But Uriah slept at the entrance to the palace with all his master’s servants and did not go down to his house.
10 Yǒu rén gàosu Dàwèi shuō , Wūlìyà méiyǒu huí jiā qù . Dàwèi jiù wèn Wūlìyà shuō , nǐ cóng yuǎn lù shàng lái , wèishénme bù huí jiā qù ne .

David was told, “Uriah did not go home.” So he asked Uriah, “Haven’t you just come from a military campaign? Why didn’t you go home?”
11 Wūlìyà duì Dàwèi shuō , yuē guì hé Yǐsèliè yǔ Yóudà bīng dōu zhù zaì péng lǐ , wǒ zhǔ Yuēyē hé wǒ zhǔ ( huò zuò wáng ) de púrén dōu zaì tiānyĕ ān yíng , wǒ qǐ kĕ huí jiā chī hē , yǔ qīzi tóng qǐn ne . wǒ gǎn zaì wáng miànqián qǐshì ( yuánwén zuò wǒ zhǐ zhe wáng hé wáng de xìngméng qǐshì ) .

Uriah said to David, “The ark and Israel and Judah are staying in tents, and my commander Joab and my lord’s men are camped in the open country. How could I go to my house to eat and drink and make love to my wife? As surely as you live, I will not do such a thing!”
12 Dàwèi fēnfu Wūlìyà shuō , nǐ jīnrì réng zhù zaì zhèlǐ , míngrì wǒ dǎfa nǐ qù . yúshì Wūlìyà nà rì hé cì rì zhù zaì Yēlùsǎlĕng .

Then David said to him, “Stay here one more day, and tomorrow I will send you back.” So Uriah remained in Jerusalem that day and the next.
13 Dàwèi zhào le Wūlìyà lái , jiào tā zaì zìjǐ miànqián chī hē , shǐ tā hē zuì . dào le wǎnshang , Wūlìyà chū qù yǔ tā zhǔ de púrén yītóng zhù xiù , hái méiyǒu huí dào jiā lǐ qù .

At David’s invitation, he ate and drank with him, and David made him drunk. But in the evening Uriah went out to sleep on his mat among his master’s servants; he did not go home.
14 Cì rì zǎochen , Dàwèi xiĕ xìn yǔ Yuēyē , jiāo Wūlìyà suí shǒu daì qù .

In the morning David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it with Uriah.
15 Xìn neì xiĕ zhe shuō , yào paì Wūlìyà qián jìn , dào zhèn shì jí xiǎn zhī chù , nǐmen biàn tuì hòu , shǐ tā beì shā .

In it he wrote, “Put Uriah out in front where the fighting is fiercest. Then withdraw from him so he will be struck down and die.”
16 Yuē yē wéi chéng de shíhou , zhīdào dírén nàli yǒu yǒng shì , biàn jiāng Wūlìyà paì zaì nàli .

So while Joab had the city under siege, he put Uriah at a place where he knew the strongest defenders were.
17 Chéng lǐ de rén chūlai hé Yuēyē dǎzhàng . Dàwèi de púrén zhōng yǒu jǐ gè beì shā de , Hèrén Wūlìyà yĕ sǐ le .

When the men of the city came out and fought against Joab, some of the men in David’s army fell; moreover, Uriah the Hittite died.
18 Yúshì , Yuēyē chāi rén qù jiāng zhēng zhàn de yīqiè shì gàosu Dàwèi ,

Joab sent David a full account of the battle.
19 Yòu zhǔfu shǐzhĕ shuō , nǐ bǎ zhēng zhàn de yīqiè shì duì wáng shuō wán le ,

He instructed the messenger: “When you have finished giving the king this account of the battle,
20 Wáng ruò fānù , wèn nǐ shuō , nǐmen dǎzhàng wèishénme āijìn chéngqiáng ne . qǐbù zhī dírén bì cóng chéng shàng shè jiàn ma .

the king’s anger may flare up, and he may ask you, ‘Why did you get so close to the city to fight? Didn’t you know they would shoot arrows from the wall?
21 Cóng qián dá sǐ yé Lùbǐ shè ( jiù shì yé lù bā lì , jiàn shìshījì jiǔ zhāng yī jié ) érzi Yàbǐmǐlè de shì shuí ne . qǐbù shì yī gè fùrén cóng chéng shàng pāo xià yī kuaì shàng mòshí lái , dá zaì tā shēnshang , tā jiù sǐ zaì tí beì sī ma . nǐmen wèishénme āijìn chéngqiáng ne? nǐ jiù shuō , wáng de púrén , Hèrén Wūlìyà yĕ sǐ le .

Who killed Abimelek son of Jerub-Besheth ? Didn’t a woman drop an upper millstone on him from the wall, so that he died in Thebez? Why did you get so close to the wall?’ If he asks you this, then say to him, ‘Moreover, your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead.’ ”
22 Shǐzhĕ qǐshēn , lái jiàn Dàwèi , zhào zhe Yuēyē suǒ fēnfu tāde huà zòu gào Dàwèi .

The messenger set out, and when he arrived he told David everything Joab had sent him to say.
23 Shǐzhĕ duì Dàwèi shuō , dírén qiáng guō wǒmen , chū dào jiāo yĕ yǔ wǒmen dǎzhàng , wǒmen zhuī shā tāmen , zhídào chéng ménkǒu .

The messenger said to David, “The men overpowered us and came out against us in the open, but we drove them back to the entrance of the city gate.
24 Shè jiàn de cóng chéng shàng shè wáng de púrén , shè sǐ jǐ gè , Hèrén Wūlìyà yĕ sǐ le .

Then the archers shot arrows at your servants from the wall, and some of the king’s men died. Moreover, your servant Uriah the Hittite is dead.”
25 Wáng xiàng shǐzhĕ shuō , nǐ gàosu Yuēyē shuō , búyào yīn zhè shì chóumèn , dāo jiàn huò tūn miè zhè rén huò tūn miè nà rén , méiyǒu yídéng de . nǐ zhǐguǎn jiélì gōng chéng , jiāng chéng qīngfù . kĕyǐ yòng zhè huà miǎnlì Yuēyē .

David told the messenger, “Say this to Joab: ‘Don’t let this upset you; the sword devours one as well as another. Press the attack against the city and destroy it.’ Say this to encourage Joab.”
26 Wūlìyà de qī tīngjian zhàngfu Wūlìyà sǐ le , jiù wèi tā āikū .

When Uriah’s wife heard that her husband was dead, she mourned for him.
27 Āikū de rìzi guō le , Dàwèi chāi rén jiāng tā jiē dào gōng lǐ , tā jiù zuò le Dàwèi de qī , gĕi Dàwèi shēng le yī gè érzi . dàn Dàwèi suǒ xíng de zhè shì , Yēhéhuá shén bù xǐyuè .

After the time of mourning was over, David had her brought to his house, and she became his wife and bore him a son. But the thing David had done displeased the LORD.
