GOD'S WORD Translation

New International Version

Galatians 6

GW 1 Brothers and sisters, if a person gets trapped by wrongdoing, those of you who are spiritual should help that person turn away from doing wrong. Do it in a gentle way. At the same time watch yourself so that you also are not tempted. NIV 1 Brothers and sisters, if someone is caught in a sin, you who live by the Spirit should restore that person gently. But watch yourselves, or you also may be tempted. GW 2 Help carry each other's burdens. In this way you will follow Christ's teachings. NIV 2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. GW 3 So if any one of you thinks you're important when you're really not, you're only fooling yourself. NIV 3 If anyone thinks they are something when they are not, they deceive themselves. GW 4 Each of you must examine your own actions. Then you can be proud of your own accomplishments without comparing yourself to others. NIV 4 Each one should test their own actions. Then they can take pride in themselves alone, without comparing themselves to someone else, GW 5 Assume your own responsibility. NIV 5 for each one should carry their own load. GW 6 The person who is taught God's word should share all good things with his teacher. NIV 6 Nevertheless, the one who receives instruction in the word should share all good things with their instructor. GW 7 Make no mistake about this: You can never make a fool out of God. Whatever you plant is what you'll harvest. NIV 7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. GW 8 If you plant in [the soil of] your corrupt nature, you will harvest destruction. But if you plant in [the soil of] your spiritual nature, you will harvest everlasting life. NIV 8 Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. GW 9 We can't allow ourselves to get tired of living the right way. Certainly, each of us will receive [everlasting life] at the proper time, if we don't give up. NIV 9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. GW 10 Whenever we have the opportunity, we have to do what is good for everyone, especially for the family of believers. NIV 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. GW 11 Look at how large the letters [in these words] are because I'm writing this myself. NIV 11 See what large letters I use as I write to you with my own hand! GW 12 These people who want to make a big deal out of a physical thing are trying to force you to be circumcised. Their only aim is to avoid persecution because of the cross of Christ. NIV 12 Those who want to impress people by means of the flesh are trying to compel you to be circumcised. The only reason they do this is to avoid being persecuted for the cross of Christ. GW 13 It's clear that not even those who had themselves circumcised did this to follow Jewish laws. Yet, they want you to be circumcised so that they can brag about what was done to your body. NIV 13 Not even those who are circumcised keep the law, yet they want you to be circumcised that they may boast about your circumcision in the flesh. GW 14 But it's unthinkable that I could ever brag about anything except the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. By his cross my relationship to the world and its relationship to me have been crucified. NIV 14 May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. GW 15 Certainly, it doesn't matter whether a person is circumcised or not. Rather, what matters is being a new creation. NIV 15 Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is the new creation. GW 16 Peace and mercy will come to rest on all those who conform to this principle. They are the Israel of God. NIV 16 Peace and mercy to all who follow this rule—to the Israel of God. GW 17 From now on, don't make any trouble for me! After all, I carry the scars of Jesus on my body. NIV 17 From now on, let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus. GW 18 May the good will of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers and sisters! Amen. NIV 18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers and sisters. Amen.
