1 Y el hombre conoció a su mujer Eva, la cual concibió y dio a luz a Caín, y dijo: He ganado varón por el SEÑOR

2 Y otra vez dio a luz a su hermano Abel. Y fue Abel pastor de ovejas, y Caín fue labrador de la tierra

3 Y aconteció andando el tiempo, que Caín trajo del fruto de la tierra presente al SEÑOR

4 Y Abel trajo también de los primogénitos de sus ovejas, y de su grosura. Y miró el SEÑOR a Abel y a su presente

5 y a Caín y a su presente no miró. Y se ensañó Caín en gran manera, y decayó su semblante

6 Entonces el SEÑOR dijo a Caín: ¿Por qué te has ensañado, y por qué se ha inmutado tu rostro

7 Cierto que si bien hicieres, será acepto; y si no hicieres bien, a las puertas duerme el pecado, y a ti será su deseo, mas tú debes enseñorearte de él

8 Y habló Caín a su hermano Abel; y aconteció que estando ellos en el campo, Caín se levantó contra su hermano Abel, y le mató

9 Y El SEÑOR dijo a Caín: ¿Dónde <em>está</em> Abel tu hermano? Y él respondió: No sé; ¿soy yo guarda de mi hermano

10 Y él le dijo: ¿Qué has hecho? La voz de la sangre de tu hermano clama a mí desde la tierra

11 Ahora pues, maldito <em>seas</em> tú de la tierra que abrió su boca para recibir la sangre de tu hermano de tu mano

12 Cuando labrares la tierra, no te volverá a dar su fuerza; fugitivo y vagabundo serás en la tierra

13 Y dijo Caín al SEÑOR: Grande <em>es</em> mi iniquidad para ser soportada

14 He aquí me echas hoy de la faz de la tierra, y de tu presencia me esconderé; y seré fugitivo y vagabundo en la tierra; y será que cualquiera que me hallare, me matará

15 Y le respondió el SEÑOR: Cierto que cualquiera que matare a Caín, siete veces será castigado. Entonces el SEÑOR puso señal en Caín, para que no lo hiriera cualquiera que le hallara

16 Y salió Caín de delante del SEÑOR, y habitó en tierra de Nod, al oriente de Edén

17 Y conoció Caín a su mujer, la cual concibió y dio a luz a Enoc; y edificó <em>una</em> ciudad, y llamó el nombre de la ciudad del nombre de su hijo, Enoc

18 Y a Enoc nació Irad, e Irad engendró a Mehujael, y Mehujael engendró a Metusael, y Metusael engendró a Lamec

19 Y tomó para sí Lamec dos mujeres: el nombre de la una <em>fue</em> Ada, y el nombre de la otra Zila

20 Y Ada dio a luz a Jabal, el cual fue padre de los que habitan en tiendas, y <em>crían</em> ganados

21 Y el nombre de su hermano <em>fue</em> Jubal, el cual fue padre de todos los que tocan arpa y órgano

22 Y Zila también dio a luz a Tubal-Caín, acicalador de toda obra de bronce y de hierro: y la hermana de Tubal-Caín fue Naama

23 Y dijo Lamec a sus mujeres: Ada y Zila, oíd mi voz; mujeres de Lamec, escuchad mi dicho: Que varón mataré por mi herida, y <em>un</em> joven por mi golpe

24 que siete veces será vengado Caín, mas Lamec setenta veces siete

25 Y conoció aún Adán a su mujer, <em>la cual</em> dio a luz un hijo, y llamó su nombre Set; porque Dios <em>(dijo ella)</em> me ha dado otra simiente por Abel, al cual mató Caín

26 Y a Set también le nació <em>un</em> hijo, y llamó su nombre Enós. Entonces comenzó a ser invocado el nombre del SEÑOR

1 Adam made love to his wife Eve, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Cain. She said, “With the help of the LORD I have brought forth a man.”

2 Later she gave birth to his brother Abel. Now Abel kept flocks, and Cain worked the soil.

3 In the course of time Cain brought some of the fruits of the soil as an offering to the LORD.

4 And Abel also brought an offering—fat portions from some of the firstborn of his flock. The LORD looked with favor on Abel and his offering,

5 but on Cain and his offering he did not look with favor. So Cain was very angry, and his face was downcast.

6 Then the LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast?

7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”

8 Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.” While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.

9 Then the LORD said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?” “I don’t know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s keeper?”

10 The LORD said, “What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground.

11 Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand.

12 When you work the ground, it will no longer yield its crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth.”

13 Cain said to the LORD, “My punishment is more than I can bear.

14 Today you are driving me from the land, and I will be hidden from your presence; I will be a restless wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.”

15 But the LORD said to him, “Not so ; anyone who kills Cain will suffer vengeance seven times over.” Then the LORD put a mark on Cain so that no one who found him would kill him.

16 So Cain went out from the LORD’s presence and lived in the land of Nod, east of Eden.

17 Cain made love to his wife, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch. Cain was then building a city, and he named it after his son Enoch.

18 To Enoch was born Irad, and Irad was the father of Mehujael, and Mehujael was the father of Methushael, and Methushael was the father of Lamech.

19 Lamech married two women, one named Adah and the other Zillah.

20 Adah gave birth to Jabal; he was the father of those who live in tents and raise livestock.

21 His brother’s name was Jubal; he was the father of all who play stringed instruments and pipes.

22 Zillah also had a son, Tubal-Cain, who forged all kinds of tools out of bronze and iron. Tubal-Cain’s sister was Naamah.

23 Lamech said to his wives, “Adah and Zillah, listen to me; wives of Lamech, hear my words. I have killed a man for wounding me, a young man for injuring me.

24 If Cain is avenged seven times, then Lamech seventy-seven times.”

25 Adam made love to his wife again, and she gave birth to a son and named him Seth, saying, “God has granted me another child in place of Abel, since Cain killed him.”

26 Seth also had a son, and he named him Enosh. At that time people began to call on the name of the LORD.
