Hebrews 3

CJB 1 Therefore, brothers whom God has set apart, who share in the call from heaven, think carefully about Yeshua, whom we acknowledge publicly as God's emissary and as cohen gadol. NIV 1 Therefore, holy brothers and sisters, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, whom we acknowledge as our apostle and high priest. CJB 2 He was faithful to God, who appointed him; just as "Moshe was faithful in all God's house." NIV 2 He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God’s house. CJB 3 But Yeshua deserves more honor than Moshe, just as the builder of the house deserves more honor than the house. NIV 3 Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself. CJB 4 For every house is built by someone, but the one who built everything is God. NIV 4 For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. CJB 5 Also, Moshe was faithful in all God's house, as a servant giving witness to things God would divulge later. NIV 5 “Moses was faithful as a servant in all God’s house,” bearing witness to what would be spoken by God in the future. CJB 6 But the Messiah, as Son, was faithful over God's house. And we are that house of his, provided we hold firmly to the courage and confidence inspired by what we hope for. NIV 6 But Christ is faithful as the Son over God’s house. And we are his house, if indeed we hold firmly to our confidence and the hope in which we glory. CJB 7 Therefore, as the Ruach HaKodesh says, "Today, if you hear God's voice, NIV 7 So, as the Holy Spirit says: “Today, if you hear his voice, CJB 8 don't harden your hearts, as you did in the Bitter Quarrel on that day in the Wilderness when you put God to the test. NIV 8 do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the wilderness, CJB 9 Yes, your fathers put me to the test; they challenged me, and they saw my work for forty years! NIV 9 where your ancestors tested and tried me, though for forty years they saw what I did. CJB 10 Therefore, I was disgusted with that generation I said, 'Their hearts are always going astray, they have not understood how I do things'; NIV 10 That is why I was angry with that generation; I said, ‘Their hearts are always going astray, and they have not known my ways.’ CJB 11 in my anger, I swore that they would not enter my rest." NIV 11 So I declared on oath in my anger, ‘They shall never enter my rest.’ ” CJB 12 Watch out, brothers, so that there will not be in any one of you an evil heart lacking trust, which could lead you to apostatize from the living God! NIV 12 See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. CJB 13 Instead, keep exhorting each other every day, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you will become hardened by the deceit of sin. NIV 13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. CJB 14 For we have become sharers in the Messiah, provided, however, that we hold firmly to the conviction we began with, right through until the goal is reached. NIV 14 We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we hold our original conviction firmly to the very end. CJB 15 Now where it says, "Today, if you hear God's voice, don't harden your hearts, as you did in the Bitter Quarrel," NIV 15 As has just been said: “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion.” CJB 16 who were the people who, after they heard, quarreled so bitterly? All those whom Moshe brought out of Egypt. NIV 16 Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt? CJB 17 And with whom was God disgusted for forty years? Those who sinned - yes, they fell dead in the Wilderness! NIV 17 And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies perished in the wilderness? CJB 18 And to whom was it that he swore that they would not enter his rest? Those who were disobedient. NIV 18 And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest if not to those who disobeyed? CJB 19 So we see that they were unable to enter because of lack of trust. NIV 19 So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief.
