Psalm 19

NCV 1 The heavens tell the glory of God, and the skies announce what his hands have made. NIV 1 The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. NCV 2 Day after day they tell the story; night after night they tell it again. NIV 2 Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. NCV 3 They have no speech or words; they have no voice to be heard. NIV 3 They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. NCV 4 But their message goes out through all the world; their words go everywhere on earth. The sky is like a home for the sun. NIV 4 Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun. NCV 5 The sun comes out like a bridegroom from his bedroom. It rejoices like an athlete eager to run a race. NIV 5 It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. NCV 6 The sun rises at one end of the sky and follows its path to the other end. Nothing hides from its heat. NIV 6 It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth. NCV 7 The teachings of the Lord are perfect; they give new strength. The rules of the Lord can be trusted; they make plain people wise. NIV 7 The law of the LORD is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple. NCV 8 The orders of the Lord are right; they make people happy. The commands of the Lord are pure; they light up the way. NIV 8 The precepts of the LORD are right, giving joy to the heart. The commands of the LORD are radiant, giving light to the eyes. NCV 9 Respect for the Lord is good; it will last forever. The judgments of the Lord are true; they are completely right. NIV 9 The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The decrees of the LORD are firm, and all of them are righteous. NCV 10 They are worth more than gold, even the purest gold. They are sweeter than honey, even the finest honey. NIV 10 They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold; they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the honeycomb. NCV 11 By them your servant is warned. Keeping them brings great reward. NIV 11 By them your servant is warned; in keeping them there is great reward. NCV 12 People cannot see their own mistakes. Forgive me for my secret sins. NIV 12 But who can discern their own errors? Forgive my hidden faults. NCV 13 Keep me from the sins of pride; don't let them rule me. Then I can be pure and innocent of the greatest of sins. NIV 13 Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless, innocent of great transgression. NCV 14 I hope my words and thoughts please you. Lord, you are my Rock, the one who saves me. For the director of music. A psalm of David. NIV 14 May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
