Psalm 2

WBT 1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? NIV 1 Why do the nations conspireand the peoples plot in vain? WBT 2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, [saying], NIV 2 The kings of the earth rise up and the rulers band together against the LORD and against his anointed, saying, WBT 3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. NIV 3 “Let us break their chains and throw off their shackles.” WBT 4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. NIV 4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. WBT 5 Then shall he speak to them in his wrath, and trouble them in his sore displeasure. NIV 5 He rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying, WBT 6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. NIV 6 “I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.” WBT 7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said to me, Thou [art] my Son; this day have I begotten thee. NIV 7 I will proclaim the LORD’s decree: He said to me, “You are my son; today I have become your father. WBT 8 Ask of me, and I will give [thee] the heathen [for] thy inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth [for] thy possession. NIV 8 Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. WBT 9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. NIV 9 You will break them with a rod of iron ; you will dash them to pieces like pottery.” WBT 10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. NIV 10 Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth. WBT 11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. NIV 11 Serve the LORD with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling. WBT 12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish [from] the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed [are] all they that put their trust in him. NIV 12 Kiss his son, or he will be angry and your way will lead to your destruction, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him.
