Psalm 81

WEB 1 Sing aloud to God, our strength! Make a joyful noise to the God of Jacob! NIV 1 Sing for joy to God our strength; shout aloud to the God of Jacob! WEB 2 Raise a song, and bring here the tambourine, The pleasant lyre with the harp. NIV 2 Begin the music, strike the timbrel, play the melodious harp and lyre. WEB 3 Blow the trumpet at the New Moon, At the full moon, on our feast day. NIV 3 Sound the ram’s horn at the New Moon, and when the moon is full, on the day of our festival; WEB 4 For it is a statute for Israel, An ordinance of the God of Jacob. NIV 4 this is a decree for Israel, an ordinance of the God of Jacob. WEB 5 He appointed it in Joseph for a testimony, When he went out over the land of Egypt, I heard a language that I didn't know. NIV 5 When God went out against Egypt, he established it as a statute for Joseph. I heard an unknown voice say: WEB 6 "I removed his shoulder from the burden. His hands were freed from the basket. NIV 6 “I removed the burden from their shoulders; their hands were set free from the basket. WEB 7 You called in trouble, and I delivered you. I answered you in the secret place of thunder. I tested you at the waters of Meribah." Selah. NIV 7 In your distress you called and I rescued you, I answered you out of a thundercloud; I tested you at the waters of Meribah. WEB 8 "Hear, my people, and I will testify to you. Israel, if you would listen to me! NIV 8 Hear me, my people, and I will warn you— if you would only listen to me, Israel! WEB 9 There shall be no strange god in you, Neither shall you worship any foreign god. NIV 9 You shall have no foreign god among you; you shall not worship any god other than me. WEB 10 I am Yahweh, your God, Who brought you up out of the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide, and I will fill it. NIV 10 I am the LORD your God, who brought you up out of Egypt. Open wide your mouth and I will fill it. WEB 11 But my people didn't listen to my voice. Israel desired none of me. NIV 11 “But my people would not listen to me; Israel would not submit to me. WEB 12 So I let them go after the stubbornness of their hearts, That they might walk in their own counsels. NIV 12 So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts to follow their own devices. WEB 13 Oh that my people would listen to me, That Israel would walk in my ways! NIV 13 “If my people would only listen to me, if Israel would only follow my ways, WEB 14 I would soon subdue their enemies, And turn my hand against their adversaries. NIV 14 how quickly I would subdue their enemies and turn my hand against their foes! WEB 15 The haters of Yahweh would cringe before him, And their punishment would last forever. NIV 15 Those who hate the LORD would cringe before him, and their punishment would last forever. WEB 16 But he would have also fed them with the finest of the wheat. I will satisfy you with honey out of the rock." NIV 16 But you would be fed with the finest of wheat; with honey from the rock I would satisfy you.”
