Colossians 3

YLT 1 If, then, ye were raised with the Christ, the things above seek ye, where the Christ is, on the right hand of God seated, NIV 1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. YLT 2 the things above mind ye, not the things upon the earth, NIV 2 Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. YLT 3 for ye did die, and your life hath been hid with the Christ in God; NIV 3 For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. YLT 4 when the Christ -- our life -- may be manifested, then also we with him shall be manifested in glory. NIV 4 When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. YLT 5 Put to death, then, your members that [are] upon the earth -- whoredom, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and the covetousness, which is idolatry -- NIV 5 Put to death, therefore, whatever belongs to your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry. YLT 6 because of which things cometh the anger of God upon the sons of the disobedience, NIV 6 Because of these, the wrath of God is coming. YLT 7 in which also ye -- ye did walk once, when ye lived in them; NIV 7 You used to walk in these ways, in the life you once lived. YLT 8 but now put off, even ye, the whole -- anger, wrath, malice, evil-speaking, filthy talking -- out of your mouth. NIV 8 But now you must also rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips. YLT 9 Lie not one to another, having put off the old man with his practices, NIV 9 Do not lie to each other, since you have taken off your old self with its practices YLT 10 and having put on the new, which is renewed in regard to knowledge, after the image of Him who did create him; NIV 10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator. YLT 11 where there is not Greek and Jew, circumcision and uncircumcision, foreigner, Scythian, servant, freeman -- but the all and in all -- Christ. NIV 11 Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all. YLT 12 Put on, therefore, as choice ones of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humble-mindedness, meekness, long-suffering, NIV 12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. YLT 13 forbearing one another, and forgiving each other, if any one with any one may have a quarrel, as also the Christ did forgive you -- so also ye; NIV 13 Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. YLT 14 and above all these things, [have] love, which is a bond of the perfection, NIV 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. YLT 15 and let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also ye were called in one body, and become thankful. NIV 15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. YLT 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing each other, in psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs, in grace singing in your hearts to the Lord; NIV 16 Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. YLT 17 and all, whatever ye may do in word or in work, [do] all things in the name of the Lord Jesus -- giving thanks to the God and Father, through him. NIV 17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. YLT 18 The wives! be subject to your own husbands, as is fit in the Lord; NIV 18 Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. YLT 19 the husbands! love your wives, and be not bitter with them; NIV 19 Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them. YLT 20 the children! obey the parents in all things, for this is well-pleasing to the Lord; NIV 20 Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord. YLT 21 the fathers! vex not your children, lest they be discouraged. NIV 21 Fathers, do not embitter your children, or they will become discouraged. YLT 22 The servants! obey in all things those who are masters according to the flesh, not in eye-service as men-pleasers, but in simplicity of heart, fearing God; NIV 22 Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to curry their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord. YLT 23 and all, whatever ye may do -- out of soul work -- as to the Lord, and not to men, NIV 23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, YLT 24 having known that from the Lord ye shall receive the recompense of the inheritance -- for the Lord Christ ye serve; NIV 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. YLT 25 and he who is doing unrighteously shall receive what he did unrighteously, and there is no acceptance of persons. NIV 25 Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs, and there is no favoritism.
