1 En el año primero de Darío hijo de Asuero, de la simiente de los medos, el cual fue puesto por rey sobre el reino de los caldeos;

2 en el año primero de su reinado, yo Daniel miré atentamente en los libros el número de los años, del cual habló el SEÑOR al profeta Jeremías, que había de concluir la asolación de Jerusalén en setenta años.

3 Y volví mi rostro al Señor Dios, buscándole en oración y ruego, en ayuno, y cilicio, y ceniza.

4 Y oré al SEÑOR mi Dios, y confesé, y dije: Ahora Señor, Dios grande, digno de ser temido, que guardas el pacto y la misericordia con los que te aman y guardan tus mandamientos;

5 hemos pecado, hemos hecho iniquidad, hemos obrado impíamente, y hemos sido rebeldes, y nos hemos apartado de tus mandamientos y de tus juicios.

6 No hemos escuchado a tus siervos los profetas, que en tu nombre hablaron a nuestros reyes, y a nuestros príncipes, a nuestros padres, y a todo el pueblo de la tierra.

7 Tuya es, Señor, la justicia, y nuestra la confusión de rostro, como el día de hoy <I>es</I> a todo hombre de Judá, y a los moradores de Jerusalén, y a todo Israel, a los de cerca y a los de lejos, en todas las tierras adonde los has echado a causa de su rebelión con que contra ti se rebelaron.

8 Oh SEÑOR, nuestra es la confusión de rostro, de nuestros reyes, de nuestros príncipes, y de nuestros padres; porque contra ti pecamos.

9 Del SEÑOR nuestro Dios <I>es</I> el tener misericordia, y el perdonar, aunque contra él <I>nos</I> hemos rebelado;

10 y no escuchamos a la voz del SEÑOR nuestro Dios, para andar por sus leyes, las cuales puso él delante de nosotros por mano de sus siervos los profetas.

11 Y todo Israel traspasó tu ley apartándose por no oír tu voz; por lo cual ha caído sobre nosotros la maldición, y el juramento que está escrito en la ley de Moisés, siervo de Dios; porque contra él pecamos.

12 Y él afirmó su palabra que habló sobre nosotros, y sobre nuestros jueces que nos gobernaron, trayendo sobre nosotros tan grande mal; que nunca fue hecho debajo del cielo como el que fue hecho en Jerusalén.

13 Según está escrito en la ley de Moisés, todo este mal vino sobre nosotros; y nunca rogamos a la faz del SEÑOR nuestro Dios, para convertirnos de nuestras maldades, y entender tu Verdad.

14 Y se apresuró el SEÑOR sobre el castigo, y lo trajo sobre nosotros; porque justo es el SEÑOR nuestro Dios en todas sus obras que hizo, porque no escuchamos su voz.

15 Ahora pues, Señor Dios nuestro, que sacaste tu pueblo de la tierra de Egipto con mano poderosa, y ganaste para ti Nombre clarísimo, como hasta hoy parece; hemos pecado, impíamente hemos hecho.

16 Oh Señor, según todas tus justicias, apártese ahora tu ira y tu furor de sobre tu ciudad Jerusalén, tu santo monte; porque a causa de nuestros pecados, y por la maldad de nuestros padres, Jerusalén y todo tu pueblo es dado en vergüenza a todos nuestros alrededores.

17 Ahora pues, Dios nuestro, oye la oración de tu siervo, y sus ruegos, y haz que tu rostro resplandezca sobre tu santuario asolado, por el Señor.

18 Inclina, oh Dios mío, tu oído, y oye; abre tus ojos, y mira nuestros asolamientos, y la ciudad sobre la cual es llamado tu Nombre; porque no derramamos nuestros ruegos ante tu presencia <I>confiados</I> en nuestras justicias, sino en tus muchas misericordias.

19 Oye, Señor. Perdona Señor. Está atento, Señor, y haz; no pongas dilación, por ti mismo, Dios mío; porque tu Nombre es llamado sobre tu ciudad y sobre tu pueblo.

20 Aún estaba hablando, y orando, y confesando mi pecado y el pecado de mi pueblo Israel, y derramaba mi ruego delante del SEÑOR mi Dios por el monte santo de mi Dios;

21 aún estaba hablando en oración, y aquel varón Gabriel, al cual había visto en visión al principio, volando con vuelo, me tocó como a la hora del sacrificio de la tarde.

22 Y me hizo entender, y habló conmigo, y dijo: Daniel, ahora he salido para hacerte entender la declaración.

23 Al principio de tus ruegos salió la palabra, y yo he venido para enseñártela, porque tú <I>eres varón</I> de deseos. Entiende, pues, la palabra, y entiende la visión.

24 Setenta semanas están determinadas (<I>Heb. cortadas</I> ) sobre tu pueblo y sobre tu Santa Ciudad, para acabar la prevaricación, y concluir el pecado, y expiar la iniquidad; y para traer la justicia de los siglos, y sellar la visión y la profecía, y ungir el lugar santísimo.

25 Sepas, pues, y entiendas, que desde la salida de la palabra para hacer volver <I>el pueblo</I> y edificar a Jerusalén, hasta el Mesías Príncipe, <I>habrá</I> siete semanas <I> y</I> sesenta y dos semanas, <I>entre tanto</I> se tornará a edificar la plaza y el muro en angustia de tiempos.

26 Y después de las sesenta y dos semanas el Mesías será muerto, y nada tendrá: (y el pueblo príncipe que ha de venir, destruirá a la ciudad y el santuario; cuyo fin <I>será como</I> avenida <I>de aguas</I> ; hasta que al fin de la guerra sea talada <I>con</I> asolamiento.)

27 En una semana (son ya setenta) confirmará el pacto por muchos, y a la mitad de la semana hará cesar el sacrificio y el presente; y a causa de la multitud de las abominaciones vendrá desolamiento, hasta que perfecto acabamiento se derrame sobre el <I>pueblo</I> abominable.

1 In the first year of Darius son of Xerxes (a Mede by descent), who was made ruler over the Babylonian kingdom—

2 in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the LORD given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years.

3 So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with him in prayer and petition, in fasting, and in sackcloth and ashes.

4 I prayed to the LORD my God and confessed: “Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and keep his commandments,

5 we have sinned and done wrong. We have been wicked and have rebelled; we have turned away from your commands and laws.

6 We have not listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our princes and our ancestors, and to all the people of the land.

7 “Lord, you are righteous, but this day we are covered with shame—the people of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and all Israel, both near and far, in all the countries where you have scattered us because of our unfaithfulness to you.

8 We and our kings, our princes and our ancestors are covered with shame, LORD, because we have sinned against you.

9 The Lord our God is merciful and forgiving, even though we have rebelled against him;

10 we have not obeyed the LORD our God or kept the laws he gave us through his servants the prophets.

11 All Israel has transgressed your law and turned away, refusing to obey you. “Therefore the curses and sworn judgments written in the Law of Moses, the servant of God, have been poured out on us, because we have sinned against you.

12 You have fulfilled the words spoken against us and against our rulers by bringing on us great disaster. Under the whole heaven nothing has ever been done like what has been done to Jerusalem.

13 Just as it is written in the Law of Moses, all this disaster has come on us, yet we have not sought the favor of the LORD our God by turning from our sins and giving attention to your truth.

14 The LORD did not hesitate to bring the disaster on us, for the LORD our God is righteous in everything he does; yet we have not obeyed him.

15 “Now, Lord our God, who brought your people out of Egypt with a mighty hand and who made for yourself a name that endures to this day, we have sinned, we have done wrong.

16 Lord, in keeping with all your righteous acts, turn away your anger and your wrath from Jerusalem, your city, your holy hill. Our sins and the iniquities of our ancestors have made Jerusalem and your people an object of scorn to all those around us.

17 “Now, our God, hear the prayers and petitions of your servant. For your sake, Lord, look with favor on your desolate sanctuary.

18 Give ear, our God, and hear; open your eyes and see the desolation of the city that bears your Name. We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy.

19 Lord, listen! Lord, forgive! Lord, hear and act! For your sake, my God, do not delay, because your city and your people bear your Name.”

20 While I was speaking and praying, confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel and making my request to the LORD my God for his holy hill—

21 while I was still in prayer, Gabriel, the man I had seen in the earlier vision, came to me in swift flight about the time of the evening sacrifice.

22 He instructed me and said to me, “Daniel, I have now come to give you insight and understanding.

23 As soon as you began to pray, a word went out, which I have come to tell you, for you are highly esteemed. Therefore, consider the word and understand the vision:

24 “Seventy ‘sevens’ are decreed for your people and your holy city to finish transgression, to put an end to sin, to atone for wickedness, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy and to anoint the Most Holy Place.

25 “Know and understand this: From the time the word goes out to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until the Anointed One, the ruler, comes, there will be seven ‘sevens,’ and sixty-two ‘sevens.’ It will be rebuilt with streets and a trench, but in times of trouble.

26 After the sixty-two ‘sevens,’ the Anointed One will be put to death and will have nothing. The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed.

27 He will confirm a covenant with many for one ‘seven.’ In the middle of the ‘seven’ he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him. ”
