1 LA parola del Signore mi fu ancora indirizzata, dicendo:

2 E tu, figliuol d’uomo, non giudicherai tu, non giudicherai tu la città di sangue, e non le farai tu conoscere tutte le sue abbominazioni? Di’ adunque:

3 Così ha detto il Signore Iddio: Il tempo della città che spande il sangue dentro di sè, e che fa degl’idoli contro a sè stessa, per contaminarsi, viene.

4 Tu ti sei resa colpevole per lo tuo sangue, che tu hai sparso; e ti sei contaminata per li tuoi idoli, che tu hai fatti; ed hai fatti avvicinare i tuoi giorni, e sei giunta alla fine de’ tuoi anni; perciò, ti ho messa in vituperio appo le nazioni, e in derizione appo tutti i paesi.

5 I paesi che son vicini, e quelli che son lontani di te, si faran beffe di te, o tu contaminata di fama, grande in ruina.

6 Ecco, i principi d’Israele, dentro di te, si son dati a spandere il sangue, ciascuno secondo il suo potere.

7 Si è sprezzato in te padre, e madre; si è usata storsione contra il forestiere in mezzo di te; si è oppressato in te l’orfano, e la vedova.

8 Tu hai sprezzate le mie cose sante, ed hai profanati i miei sabati.

9 Uomini sparlatori, e calunniatori sono stati in mezzo di te, per ispandere il sangue; e si è mangiato in te sopra i monti; si son commesse scelleratezze in mezzo di te.

10 Le vergogne del padre si sono scoperte in te; si è sforzata in te la donna appartata per la sua immondizia.

11 L’uno ha commessa abbominazione con la moglie del suo prossimo; l’altro ha contaminata la sua nuora con iscelleratezza; e l’altro ha violata la sua sorella, figliuola di suo padre, dentro di te.

12 Si son presi presenti in te, per ispandere il sangue; tu hai presa usura, e vantaggio, ed hai frodati i tuoi prossimi con oppressione, e mi hai dimenticato, dice il Signore Iddio.

13 Laonde ecco, io mi son battuto a palme, per la tua avarizia, che hai usata; e per lo tuo sangue che è stato in mezzo di te.

14 Potrà il cuor tuo esser fermo, o le tue mani esser forti al tempo che io opererò contro a te? Io, il Signore, ho parlato, ed altresì opererò.

15 E ti dispergerò fra le nazioni, io ti sventolerò per i paesi, e farò venir meno in te la tua immondizia.

16 E tu sarai profanata dentro di te, nel cospetto delle nazioni; e conoscerai che io sono il Signore.

17 La parola del Signore mi fu ancora indirizzata, dicendo:

18 Figliuol d’uomo, la casa d’Israele mi è divenuta schiuma; tutti quanti son rame, e stagno, e ferro, e piombo, in mezzo d’un fornello; son divenuti schiuma d’argento.

19 Perciò, così ha detto il Signore Iddio: Perciocchè voi tutti siete divenuti schiume, però, ecco, io vi raduno in mezzo di Gerusalemme.

20 Come si raduna l’argento, e il rame, e il ferro, e il piombo, e lo stagno, in mezzo d’un fornello, per soffiarvi su il fuoco per fonder quelle cose: così vi raccorrò nella mia ira, e nel mio cruccio, e vi porrò quivi, e vi struggerò.

21 Così vi radunerò, e soffierò sopra voi nel fuoco della mia indegnazione; e voi sarete strutti in mezzo di quella.

22 Come l’argento si strugge nel fornello, così sarete strutti in mezzo di quella; e voi conoscerete che io, il Signore, avrò versata l’ira mia sopra voi.

23 La parola del Signore mi fu ancora indirizzata, dicendo:

24 Figliuol d’uomo, dille: Tu sei un paese che non sei stato nettato, che non sei stato bagnato d’alcuna pioggia nel giorno del cruccio.

25 Vi è una cospirazione de’ suoi profeti in mezzo di lei; han divorate le anime come un leone ruggente, che rapisce la preda; han tolte le facoltà, e le cose preziose; han moltiplicate le vedove in mezzo di essa.

26 I suoi sacerdoti han violata la mia Legge, ed han profanate le mie cose sante; non han posta differenza tra la cosa santa, e la profana, e non hanno insegnato a discerner tra la cosa monda, e l’immonda; e si sono turati gli occhi, per non prender guardia a’ miei sabati, ed io sono stato profanato nel mezzo di loro.

27 I suoi principi sono stati dentro di essa come lupi che rapiscono la preda, spandendo il sangue, e distruggendo le anime, per saziar la loro avarizia.

28 E i suoi profeti han fatto loro uno smalto mal tegnente; hanno avute visioni di vanità, ed hanno loro indovinata menzogna, dicendo: Così ha detto il Signore Iddio; benchè il Signore non avesse parlato.

29 Il popolo del paese ha fatte delle storsioni, e rapine, ed han fatta violenza al povero, ed al bisognoso; hanno oppressato il forestiere, senza che gli si sia fatta ragione.

30 Ed io ho cercato d’infra loro alcuno che facesse alcun riparo; e che si presentasse davanti a me alla rottura, per lo paese; acciocchè io non lo desertassi; ma non ne ho trovato alcuno.

31 Perciò, io spanderò sopra loro l’ira mia; io li consumerò col fuoco della mia indegnazione; io renderò loro la lor via in sul capo, dice il Signore Iddio.

GOD'S WORD Translation GW

1 The LORD spoke his word to me. He said,

2 "Will you judge, son of man? Will you judge the city of murderers? Then tell it about all the disgusting things that it has done.

3 Tell it, 'This is what the Almighty LORD says: [Jerusalem,] you are the city that murders people who live in you. Your time has come. You dishonor yourself with disgusting idols.

4 You are guilty because of the people you have killed. You are dishonored because of the disgusting idols you have made. You have brought an end to your days, and you have come to the end of your years. That is why I will make you a disgrace to the nations and a joke in every land.

5 Those near and those far away will mock you. Your name will be dishonored, and you will be filled with confusion.

6 "'See how all the princes of Israel who live in you have used their power to murder people.

7 People in you hate their fathers and mothers. They oppress foreigners in you. They oppress orphans and widows in you.

8 You have despised my holy things and dishonored the day to worship me.

9 Some of your people slander. They want to kill people. People who live in you eat food sacrificed to idols at the worship sites on the hills, and they sin sexually.

10 Men have sex with their father's wives. They have sex with women when the women are having their periods and are unclean.

11 Men do disgusting things with their neighbors' wives. Some men sexually dishonor their daughters-in-law. Other men who live in you have sex with their sisters, their father's daughters.

12 Other people take bribes to murder people. You collect interest and make excessive profits. You make profits by mistreating your neighbors. You have forgotten me, declares the Almighty LORD.

13 "'I will use my power against you because of the excessive profits you have made and the murders you have committed.

14 Will you still be brave? Will you remain strong when I deal with you? I, the LORD, have spoken, and I will do it.

15 I will scatter you among the nations and force you into other countries. I will put an end to your uncleanness.

16 You will be dishonored in the sight of the nations. Then you will know that I am the LORD.'"

17 Then the LORD spoke his word to me. He said,

18 "Son of man, the people of Israel have become worthless to me. All of them are like copper, tin, iron, and lead in a smelting furnace. They are like the impurities left from silver.

19 This is what the Almighty LORD says: All of you have become worthless. That is why I'm going to gather you in Jerusalem.

20 People gather silver, copper, iron, lead, and tin together in a smelting furnace to melt them with a fiery blast. In the same way, in my anger and fury I will gather you and put you in the city. I will melt you there.

21 Yes, I will gather you, breathe on you with my fiery anger, and melt you in the city.

22 You will be melted in the city like silver that is melted in a furnace. Then you will know that I, the LORD, have poured out my fury on you."

23 The LORD spoke his word to me. He said,

24 "Son of man, tell the city, 'You are an unclean land that has not had rain during the day of my anger. You have not been made clean.

25 Your princes are like roaring lions who tear their prey into pieces. They eat people and take their treasures and precious belongings. They turn many women into widows.

26 Your priests violate my teachings and dishonor my holy things. They don't distinguish between what is holy and what is unholy. They don't teach the difference between what is clean and what is unclean. They ignore the days to worship me. So I am dishonored among the people.

27 Your leaders are like wolves that tear their prey into pieces. They murder and destroy people to make excessive profits.

28 Your prophets cover up these things by seeing false visions and by prophesying lies. They say, "This is what the Almighty LORD says." Yet, the LORD hasn't spoken.

29 The common people oppress and rob others. They do wrong to humble people and to poor people. They oppress foreigners for no reason.

30 "'I looked for someone among you who could build walls or stand in front of me by the gaps in the walls to defend the land and keep it from being destroyed. But I couldn't find anyone.

31 So I will pour out my anger on you, and with my fiery anger I will consume you. This is because of all the things you have done,'" declares the Almighty LORD.
