1 Entonces el Espíritu me levantó y me llevó a la puerta oriental de la casa del SEÑOR que mira al oriente. Y he aquí, a la entrada de la puerta había veinticinco hombres, y entre ellos vi a Jaazanías, hijo de Azur, y a Pelatías, hijo de Benaía, jefes del pueblo.

2 Y El me dijo: Hijo de hombre, estos son los hombres que maquinan iniquidad y dan malos consejos en esta ciudad,

3 los cuales dicen: "¿No está cerca el tiempo de edificar casas? Esta ciudad es la olla y nosotros la carne."

4 Por tanto, profetiza contra ellos, profetiza, hijo de hombre.

5 Entonces el Espíritu del SEÑOR cayó sobre mí, y me dijo: Di: "Así dice el SEÑOR: 'Así habéis dicho, casa de Israel, yo conozco vuestros pensamientos.

6 'Habéis multiplicado vuestros muertos en esta ciudad, habéis llenado sus calles de muertos.'

7 "Por tanto, así dice el Señor DIOS: 'Vuestros muertos, los que habéis dejado en medio de la ciudad, son la carne, y ella es la olla; pero yo os sacaré de ella.

8 'Habéis temido la espada, y espada traeré sobre vosotros'declara el Señor DIOS.

9 'Y os sacaré de en medio de la ciudad, os entregaré en manos de extraños y traeré juicios contra vosotros.

10 'A espada caeréis; en los confines de Israel os juzgaré; y sabréis que yo soy el SEÑOR.

11 'Esta ciudad no será olla para vosotros, ni vosotros seréis carne en medio de ella; hacia los confines de Israel os juzgaré.

12 'Y sabréis que yo soy el SEÑOR; porque no habéis andado en mis estatutos ni habéis ejecutado mis ordenanzas, sino que habéis obrado conforme a las costumbres de las naciones que os rodean.'"

13 Y sucedió que mientras yo profetizaba, Pelatías, hijo de Benaía, murió. Entonces caí sobre mi rostro, y clamé a gran voz y dije: ¡Ah, Señor DIOS! ¿Vas a acabar por completo con el remanente de Israel?

14 Entonces vino a mí la palabra del SEÑOR, diciendo:

15 Hijo de hombre, tus hermanos, tus parientes, los hombres en el destierro contigo y toda la casa de Israel, todos ellos, son aquellos a quienes los habitantes de Jerusalén han dicho: "Alejaos del SEÑOR; a nosotros se nos ha dado esta tierra en posesión."

16 Por tanto, di: "Así dice el Señor DIOS: 'Aunque yo los había echado lejos entre las naciones, y aunque yo los había dispersado por las tierras, sin embargo fui para ellos un santuario por poco tiempo en las tierras adonde habían ido.'"

17 Por tanto di: "Así dice el Señor DIOS: 'Yo os recogeré de entre los pueblos y os reuniré de las tierras entre las cuales habéis sido dispersados, y os daré la tierra de Israel.'"

18 Cuando lleguen allí, quitarán de ella todas sus cosas detestables y todas sus abominaciones.

19 Yo les daré un solo corazón y pondré un espíritu nuevo dentro de ellos. Y quitaré de su carne el corazón de piedra y les daré un corazón de carne,

20 para que anden en mis estatutos, guarden mis ordenanzas y los cumplan. Entonces serán mi pueblo y yo seré su Dios.

21 Pero en cuanto a aquellos cuyo corazón va detrás de sus cosas detestables y abominaciones, haré recaer su conducta sobre su cabezadeclara el Señor DIOS.

22 Entonces los querubines alzaron sus alas con las ruedas a su lado, y la gloria del Dios de Israel estaba por encima, sobre ellos.

23 La gloria del SEÑOR se elevó de en medio de la ciudad, y se detuvo sobre el monte que está al oriente de la ciudad.

24 Y el Espíritu me levantó y me llevó a Caldea, a los desterrados, en visión por el Espíritu de Dios. Y se alejó de mí la visión que había visto.

25 Entonces hablé a los desterrados de todas las cosas que el SEÑOR me había mostrado.

The Message Bible MSG

1 Then the Spirit picked me up and took me to the gate of the Temple that faces east. There were twenty-five men standing at the gate. I recognized the leaders, Jaazaniah son of Azzur and Pelatiah son of Benaiah.

2 God said, "Son of man, these are the men who draw up blueprints for sin, who think up new programs for evil in this city.

3 They say, 'We can make anything happen here. We're the best. We're the choice pieces of meat in the soup pot.'

4 "Oppose them, son of man. Preach against them."

5 Then the Spirit of God came upon me and told me what to say: "This is what God says: 'That's a fine public speech, Israel, but I know what you are thinking.

6 You've murdered a lot of people in this city. The streets are piled high with corpses.'

7 "Therefore this is what God, the Master, says: 'The corpses that you've piled in the streets are the meat and this city is the soup pot, and you're not even in the pot! I'm throwing you out!

8 You fear war, but war is what you're going to get. I'm bringing war against you.

9 I'm throwing you out of this city, giving you over to foreigners, and punishing you good.

10 You'll be killed in battle. I'll carry out judgment on you at the borders of Israel. Then you'll realize that I am God.

11 This city will not be your soup pot and you won't be the choice pieces of meat in it either. Hardly. I will carry out judgment on you at the borders of Israel

12 and you'll realize that I am God, for you haven't followed my statutes and ordinances. Instead of following my ways, you've sunk to the level of the laws of the nations around you.'"

13 Even while I was preaching, Pelatiah son of Benaiah died. I fell down, face to the ground, and prayed loudly, "O Master, God! Will you completely wipe out what's left of Israel?"

14 The answer from God came back:

15 "Son of man, your brothers - I mean the whole people of Israel who are in exile with you - are the people of whom the citizens of Jerusalem are saying, 'They're in the far country, far from God. This land has been given to us to own.'

16 "Well, tell them this: 'This is your Message from God, the Master. True, I sent you to the far country and scattered you through other lands. All the same, I've provided you a temporary sanctuary in the countries where you've gone.

17 I will gather you back from those countries and lands where you've been scattered and give you back the land of Israel.

18 You'll come back and clean house, throw out all the rotten images and obscene idols.

19 I'll give you a new heart. I'll put a new spirit in you. I'll cut out your stone heart and replace it with a red-blooded, firm-muscled heart.

20 Then you'll obey my statutes and be careful to obey my commands. You'll be my people! I'll be your God!

21 "'But not those who are self-willed and addicted to their rotten images and obscene idols! I'll see that they're paid in full for what they've done.' Decree of God, the Master."

22 Then the cherubim spread their wings, with the wheels beside them and the Glory of the God of Israel hovering over them.

23 The Glory of God ascended from within the city and rested on the mountain to the east of the city.

24 Then, still in the vision given me by the Spirit of God, the Spirit took me and carried me back to the exiles in Babylon. And then the vision left me.

25 I told the exiles everything that God had shown me.
