1 Y vino Palabra del SEÑOR a mí, diciendo:

The word of the LORD came to me:
2 Hijo de hombre, ¿qué es el palo de la vid más que todo palo? ¿El sarmiento qué es entre los maderos del bosque?

“Son of man, how is the wood of a vine different from that of a branch from any of the trees in the forest?
3 ¿Tomarán de él madera para hacer <I>alguna</I> obra? ¿Tomarán de él una estaca para colgar de ella algún vaso?

Is wood ever taken from it to make anything useful? Do they make pegs from it to hang things on?
4 He aquí, que es puesto en el fuego para ser consumido; sus dos extremos consumió el fuego, y la parte del medio se quemó; ¿aprovechará para obra <I>alguna</I> ?

And after it is thrown on the fire as fuel and the fire burns both ends and chars the middle, is it then useful for anything?
5 He aquí que cuando estaba entero no era para obra <I>alguna</I> , ¿cuánto menos después que el fuego lo hubiere consumido, y fuere quemado? ¿Será más para <I>alguna</I> obra?

If it was not useful for anything when it was whole, how much less can it be made into something useful when the fire has burned it and it is charred?
6 Por tanto, así dijo el Señor DIOS: Como el palo de la vid entre los maderos del bosque, el cual <I>yo</I> entregué al fuego para que lo consuma, así he entregado a los moradores de Jerusalén.

“Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: As I have given the wood of the vine among the trees of the forest as fuel for the fire, so will I treat the people living in Jerusalem.
7 Y pondré mi rostro contra ellos; de <I>un</I> fuego salieron, y <I>otro</I> fuego los consumirá; y sabréis que yo <I>soy</I> el SEÑOR, cuando pusiere mi rostro contra ellos.

I will set my face against them. Although they have come out of the fire, the fire will yet consume them. And when I set my face against them, you will know that I am the LORD.
8 Y tornaré la tierra en asolamiento, por cuanto <I>se</I> rebelaron completamente, dijo el Señor DIOS.

I will make the land desolate because they have been unfaithful, declares the Sovereign LORD.”
