1 Y vino a mí la palabra del SEÑOR, diciendo:

2 Hijo de hombre, había dos mujeres, hijas de una madre,

3 que se prostituyeron en Egipto; se prostituyeron en su juventud. Allí fueron palpados sus pechos y allí fueron acariciados sus senos virginales.

4 Sus nombres eran Aholá, la mayor, y Aholibá, su hermana. Vinieron a ser mías y dieron a luz hijos e hijas. Y en cuanto a sus nombres, Aholá es Samaria y Aholibá es Jerusalén

5 Y Aholá se prostituyó cuando era mía; y se apasionó de sus amantes, los asirios, vecinos suyos,

6 vestidos de púrpura, gobernadores y oficiales, todos ellos jóvenes apuestos, jinetes montados a caballo.

7 Cometió sus prostituciones con ellos, con lo más selecto de los asirios; y con todos los que se había apasionado, con todos sus ídolos se contaminó.

8 Y no abandonó sus prostituciones de Egipto; pues con ella muchos en su juventud se habían acostado, y acariciaron sus senos virginales y derramaron sobre ella su pasión.

9 Por tanto, la entregué en manos de sus amantes, en mano de los asirios, de los que se había apasionado.

10 Ellos descubrieron su desnudez, se llevaron a sus hijos y a sus hijas, y a ella la mataron a espada. Y vino a ser ejemplo para las mujeres, pues se ejecutaron juicios contra ella.

11 Y aunque su hermana Aholibá vio esto, se corrompió en su pasión más que ella, y sus prostituciones fueron mayores que las prostituciones de su hermana.

12 Se apasionó de los asirios, gobernadores y oficiales, vecinos suyos, lujosamente vestidos, jinetes montados a caballo, todos ellos jóvenes apuestos.

13 Y vi que ella se había contaminado; un mismo camino seguían las dos.

14 Y aumentó sus prostituciones. Vio hombres pintados en la pared, figuras de caldeos pintadas con bermellón

15 ceñidos sus lomos con cinturones y amplios turbantes en sus cabezas, con aspecto de oficiales todos ellos, semejantes a los babilonios de Caldea, tierra de su nacimiento.

16 Cuando los vio se apasionó de ellos y les envió mensajeros a Caldea.

17 Y vinieron a ella los babilonios, al lecho de amores, y la contaminaron con sus prostituciones. Y después de haber sido contaminada con ellos, su alma se hastió de ellos.

18 Reveló sus prostituciones y descubrió su desnudez; entonces me hastié de ella como me había hastiado de su hermana.

19 Pero ella multiplicó sus prostituciones, recordando los días de su juventud, cuando se prostituía en la tierra de Egipto

20 Y se apasionó de sus amantes, cuya carne es como la carne de los asnos y cuyo flujo es como el flujo de los caballos.

21 Añoraste así la lujuria de tu juventud, cuando los egipcios palpaban tu seno, acariciando los pechos de tu juventud

22 Por tanto, Aholibá, así dice el Señor DIOS: "He aquí, incitaré contra ti a tus amantes, de los que te alejaste, y los traeré contra ti de todos lados:

23 los babilonios y todos los caldeos, los de Pecod, Soa y Coa, y con ellos todos los asirios, jóvenes apuestos, todos ellos gobernadores y oficiales, capitanes y de renombre, todos montados a caballo.

24 "Y vendrán contra ti con armas, carros y carretas, y con multitud de pueblos. Se apostarán contra ti de todos lados con coraza, escudo y yelmo; a ellos les encargaré el juicio y ellos te juzgarán conforme a sus costumbres.

25 "Pondré contra ti mi celo, y te tratarán con furor; te arrancarán la nariz y las orejas, y tus sobrevivientes caerán a espada; te quitarán tus hijos y tus hijas, y los que queden serán consumidos por el fuego.

26 "También te despojarán de tus vestidos y te quitarán tus bellas joyas.

27 "Así pondré fin a tu lujuria y a tu prostitución traídas de la tierra de Egipto, y no levantarás más tus ojos hacia ellos ni recordarás más a Egipto."

28 Porque así dice el Señor DIOS: "He aquí, yo te entregaré en manos de los que odias, en manos de aquellos de los que te alejaste.

29 "Ellos te tratarán con odio, te quitarán todas tus posesiones y te dejarán desnuda y descubierta. Y será descubierta la verguenza de tus prostituciones; tanto tu lujuria como tus prostituciones.

30 "Estas cosas se harán contigo porque te has prostituido con las naciones, porque te has contaminado con sus ídolos.

31 "Has andado en el camino de tu hermana; por eso yo te pondré su cáliz en tu mano."

32 Así dice el Señor DIOS: "Beberás el cáliz de tu hermana, que es hondo y ancho; servirá de risa y de escarnio porque es de gran capacidad.

33 "De embriaguez y de dolor te llenarás. El cáliz de horror y desolación es el cáliz de tu hermana Samaria.

34 "Lo beberás y lo agotarás; roerás sus fragmentos, y te desgarrarás los pechos. Porque yo he hablado"declara el Señor DIOS.

35 Por tanto, así dice el Señor DIOS: "Porque me has olvidado y me has arrojado a tus espaldas, carga ahora con el castigo de tu lujuria y de tus prostituciones."

36 También me dijo el SEÑOR: Hijo de hombre, ¿juzgarás a Aholá y a Aholibá? Hazles saber, pues, sus abominaciones

37 Porque han cometido adulterio y hay sangre en sus manos; han cometido adulterio con sus ídolos, y aún a sus hijos, que dieron a luz para mí, han hecho pasar por el fuego como alimento para los ídolos.

38 Además me han hecho esto: han contaminado mi santuario en ese día y han profanado mis días de reposo

39 después de sacrificar sus hijos a sus ídolos, entraron en mi santuario el mismo día para profanarlo; y he aquí, así hicieron en medio de mi casa.

40 Aún más, mandaron llamar a hombres que vinieran de lejos, a quienes se les envió un mensajero; y he aquí, vinieron. Para ellos te bañaste, te pintaste los ojos y te ataviaste con adornos;

41 luego te sentaste en un suntuoso diván ante el cual estaba preparada una mesa en la que habías puesto mi incienso y mi aceite.

42 Y el ruido de una multitud despreocupada se oía allí, multitud de hombres, bebedores traídos del desierto. Y pusieron brazaletes en las manos de las mujeres y hermosas coronas sobre sus cabezas.

43 Entonces dije acerca de aquella que estaba consumida por sus adulterios: "¿Cometerán ahora fornicaciones con ella, estando ella así?"

44 Y se llegaron a ella como quien se llega a una ramera. Así se llegaron a Aholá y a Aholibá, mujeres depravadas.

45 Pero los hombres justos los juzgarán en el juicio de las adúlteras y en el juicio de las mujeres que derraman sangre, por ser ellas adúlteras y haber sangre en sus manos.

46 Porque así dice el Señor DIOS: "Tráigase una multitud contra ellas, y sean entregadas al terror y al pillaje.

47 "Y la multitud las apedreará y las cortará con sus espadas; matará a sus hijos y a sus hijas y prenderán fuego a sus casas.

48 "Y haré cesar la lascivia de la tierra, y todas las mujeres serán advertidas y no cometerán lascivia como vosotras.

49 "Y recaerá vuestra lascivia sobre vosotras, y cargaréis el castigo de haber adorado a vuestros ídolos; así sabréis que yo soy el Señor DIOS."

The Message Bible MSG

1 God's Message came to me:

2 "Son of man, there were two women, daughters of the same mother.

3 They became whores in Egypt, whores from a young age. Their breasts were fondled, their young bosoms caressed.

4 The older sister was named Oholah, the younger was Oholibah. They were my daughters, and they gave birth to sons and daughters. "Oholah is Samaria and Oholibah is Jerusalem

5 "Oholah started whoring while she was still mine. She lusted after Assyrians as lovers: military men

6 smartly uniformed in blue, ambassadors and governors, good-looking young men mounted on fine horses.

7 Her lust was unrestrained. She was a whore to the Assyrian elite. She compounded her filth with the idols of those to whom she gave herself in lust.

8 She never slowed down. The whoring she began while young in Egypt she continued, sleeping with men who played with her breasts and spent their lust on her.

9 "So I left her to her Assyrian lovers, for whom she was so obsessed with lust.

10 They ripped off her clothes, took away her children, and then, the final indignity, killed her. Among women her name became Shame - history's judgment on her.

11 "Her sister Oholibah saw all this, but she became even worse than her sister in lust and whoring, if you can believe it.

12 She also went crazy with lust for Assyrians: ambassadors and governors, military men smartly dressed and mounted on fine horses - the Assyrian elite.

13 And I saw that she also had become incredibly filthy. Both women followed the same path.

14 But Oholibah surpassed her sister. When she saw figures of Babylonians carved in relief on the walls and painted red

15 fancy belts around their waists, elaborate turbans on their heads, all of them looking important - famous Babylonians! -

16 she went wild with lust and sent invitations to them in Babylon.

17 The Babylonians came on the run, fornicated with her, made her dirty inside and out. When they had thoroughly debased her, she lost interest in them.

18 Then she went public with her fornication. She exhibited her sex to the world.

19 But that didn't slow her down. She went at her whoring harder than ever. She remembered when she was young, just starting out as a whore in Egypt

20 That whetted her appetite for more virile, vulgar, and violent lovers - stallions obsessive in their lust.

21 She longed for the sexual prowess of her youth back in Egypt, where her firm young breasts were caressed and fondled

22 "'Therefore, Oholibah, this is the Message from God, the Master: I will incite your old lovers against you, lovers you got tired of and left in disgust. I'll bring them against you from every direction,

23 Babylonians and all the Chaldeans, Pekod, Shoa, and Koa, and all Assyrians - good-looking young men, ambassadors and governors, elite officers and celebrities - all of them mounted on fine, spirited horses.

24 They'll come down on you out of the north, armed to the teeth, bringing chariots and troops from all sides. I'll turn over the task of judgment to them. They'll punish you according to their rules.

25 I'll stand totally and relentlessly against you as they rip into you furiously. They'll mutilate you, cutting off your ears and nose, killing at random. They'll enslave your children - and anybody left over will be burned.

26 They'll rip off your clothes and steal your jewelry.

27 I'll put a stop to your sluttish sex, the whoring life you began in Egypt. You won't look on whoring with fondness anymore. You won't think back on Egypt with stars in your eyes.

28 "'A Message from God, the Master: I'm at the point of abandoning you to those you hate, to those by whom you're repulsed.

29 They'll treat you hatefully, leave you publicly naked, your whore's body exposed in the cruel glare of the sun. Your sluttish lust

30 will be exposed. Your lust has brought you to this condition because you whored with pagan nations and made yourself filthy with their no-god idols.

31 "'You copied the life of your sister. Now I'll let you drink the cup she drank.

32 "'This is the Message of God, the Master: "'You'll drink your sister's cup, a cup canyon-deep and ocean-wide. You'll be shunned and taunted as you drink from that cup, full to the brim.

33 You'll be falling-down-drunk and the tears will flow as you drink from that cup titanic with terror: It's the cup of your sister Samaria.

34 You'll drink it dry, then smash it to bits and eat the pieces, and end up tearing at your breasts. I've given the word - Decree of God, the Master.

35 "'Therefore God, the Master, says, Because you've forgotten all about me, pushing me into the background, you now must pay for what you've done - pay for your sluttish sex and whoring life.'"

36 Then God said to me, "Son of man, will you confront Oholah and Oholibah with what they've done? Make them face their outrageous obscenities

37 obscenities ranging from adultery to murder. They committed adultery with their no-god idols, sacrificed the children they bore me in order to feed their idols!

38 And there is also this: They've defiled my holy Sanctuary and desecrated my holy Sabbaths

39 The same day that they sacrificed their children to their idols, they walked into my Sanctuary and defiled it. That's what they did - in my house!

40 "Furthermore, they even sent out invitations by special messenger to men far away - and, sure enough, they came. They bathed themselves, put on makeup and provocative lingerie.

41 They reclined on a sumptuous bed, aromatic with incense and oils - my incense and oils!

42 The crowd gathered, jostling and pushing, a drunken rabble. They adorned the sisters with bracelets on their arms and tiaras on their heads.

43 "I said, 'She's burned out on sex!' but that didn't stop them. They kept banging on her doors night and day

44 as men do when they're after a whore. That's how they used Oholah and Oholibah, the worn-out whores.

45 "Righteous men will pronounce judgment on them, giving out sentences for adultery and murder. That was their lifework: adultery and murder."

46 "God says, 'Let a mob loose on them: Terror! Plunder!

47 Let the mob stone them and hack them to pieces - kill all their children, burn down their houses!

48 "'I'll put an end to sluttish sex in this country so that all women will be well warned and not copy you.

49 You'll pay the price for all your obsessive sex. You'll pay in full for your promiscuous affairs with idols. And you'll realize that I am God, the Master.'"
