2 «Hijo de hombre, había una vez dos hermanas que eran hijas de la misma madre.

3 Ambas se hicieron prostitutas en Egipto. Incluso cuando eran jovencitas, dejaban que los hombres manosearan sus senos.

4 La mayor se llamaba Aholá, y su hermana era Aholibá. Yo me casé con ellas y me dieron hijos e hijas. Me refiero a Samaria y a Jerusalén, pues Aholá es Samaria y Aholibá es Jerusalén.

5 »Luego Aholá sintió deseos sensuales por otros amantes y no por mí, así que entregó su amor a los oficiales asirios.

6 Eran todos jóvenes atractivos: capitanes y comandantes hermosamente vestidos de azul que conducían los carros de guerra.

7 Así que se prostituyó con los hombres más deseables de Asiria, rindiendo culto a sus ídolos<br /> y contaminándose.

9 »Entonces la entregué a sus amantes asirios, a quienes ella tanto deseaba.

10 Ellos la desnudaron, se llevaron a sus hijos como esclavos y luego la mataron. Después de recibir su castigo, su mala fama llegó a oídos de todas las mujeres de la tierra.

16 Cuando ella vio esas imágenes, anheló entregarse a ellos y envió mensajeros a Babilonia para invitarlos a que la visitaran.

17 Entonces vinieron y cometieron adulterio con ella, y la corrompieron en la cama del amor. No obstante, después de contaminarse con ellos, los rechazó con asco.

18 »Asimismo, yo sentí asco por Aholibá y la rechacé, tal como había rechazado a su hermana, porque se exhibió delante de ellos y se les entregó para satisfacerles sus pasiones sexuales.

19 Sin embargo, ella se prostituyó mucho más recordando su juventud cuando se había prostituido en Egipto.

20 Sintió deseos sensuales por sus amantes con órganos sexuales tan grandes como los del burro, que eyaculan como un caballo.

21 Y así, Aholibá, reviviste el pasado, esos días de jovencita en Egipto, cuando dejaste que te manosearan los senos por primera vez.

22 El Señor<br /> juzga a Aholibá<br />»Por lo tanto, Aholibá, esto dice el Señor<br /> Soberano: de todas partes enviaré a tus amantes contra ti, esas mismas naciones de las que te alejaste con asco.

23 Pues los babilonios vendrán con todos los caldeos de Pecod, de Soa y de Coa. Junto con ellos llegarán todos los asirios, esos jóvenes y apuestos capitanes, comandantes, oficiales de carros de guerra y demás oficiales de alto rango, cada uno montado a caballo.

24 Todos ellos vendrán contra ti desde el norte<br /> con carros de guerra, carretas y un gran ejército preparado para atacar. Tomarán posiciones de batalla por todas partes y te rodearán de hombres armados con escudos y yelmos. Yo te entregaré a ellos para castigarte, a fin de que hagan contigo lo que quieran.

25 Descargaré sobre ti el enojo de mis celos y ellos te tratarán con dureza. Te cortarán la nariz y las orejas, y a los sobrevivientes los matarán a espada. Se llevarán a tus hijos cautivos y quemarán todo lo que quede.

26 Te arrancarán tus hermosas ropas y joyas.

27 De ese modo pondré fin a la lascivia y a la prostitución que trajiste de Egipto. Nunca más tus ojos anhelarán aquellas cosas ni recordarás con nostalgia tus días en Egipto.

28 »Pues esto dice el Señor<br /> Soberano: ciertamente te entregaré a tus enemigos, a esos que detestas, a quienes rechazaste.

29 Te tratarán con odio, te robarán todo lo que tienes y te dejarán completamente desnuda. Tu vergonzosa prostitución quedará a la vista de todo el mundo.

30 Tú misma te provocaste todo esto al prostituirte con otras naciones y contaminarte con todos sus ídolos.

31 Por haber seguido los pasos de tu hermana, te obligaré a beber de la misma copa de terror que ella bebió.

32 »Sí, esto dice el Señor<br /> Soberano:<br />»Beberás de la copa de terror de tu hermana,<br />una copa grande y profunda,<br />que está llena hasta el borde<br />de burla y de desprecio.

33 Te llenarás de borrachera y angustia,<br />pues tu copa rebosa de aflicción y desolación;<br />es la misma copa que bebió tu hermana, Samaria.

34 Beberás toda esa copa de terror<br />hasta la última gota.<br />Luego la romperás en pedazos<br />y te golpearás el pecho en señal de angustia.<br />¡Yo, el Señor<br /> Soberano, he hablado!

35 »Y porque te olvidaste de mí y me diste la espalda, esto dice el Señor<br /> Soberano: tendrás que sufrir las consecuencias de toda tu lascivia y de tu prostitución».

36 El Señor<br /> juzga a las dos hermanas<br />El Señor<br /> me dijo: «Hijo de hombre, debes acusar a Aholá y Aholibá de todos sus pecados detestables.

37 Ellas han cometido adulterio y homicidio: adulterio al rendir culto a ídolos y homicidio al quemar en sacrificio a los hijos que me habían dado.

38 ¡Además, contaminaron mi templo y profanaron mi día de descanso!

39 ¡El mismo día que ofrecieron a sus hijos en sacrificio a ídolos, se atrevieron a venir a mi templo para adorar! Entraron y contaminaron mi casa.

40 »Ustedes, hermanas, enviaron mensajeros a tierras lejanas para conseguir hombres. Cuando ellos llegaron, ustedes se bañaron, se pintaron los párpados y se pusieron sus mejores joyas para recibirlos.

41 Se sentaron junto a ellos en un sofá con hermosos bordados y pusieron mi incienso y mi aceite especial sobre una mesa servida ante ustedes.

42 Desde su habitación llegaba el ruido de muchos hombres en plena juerga. Eran hombres lujuriosos y borrachos<br /> provenientes del desierto, que les pusieron brazaletes en las muñecas y hermosas coronas sobre la cabeza.

43 Entonces dije: “Si realmente quieren tener sexo con prostitutas viejas y estropeadas como estas, ¡que lo hagan!”.

44 Y eso fue lo que hicieron. Tuvieron sexo con Aholá y Aholibá, esas prostitutas desvergonzadas.

45 Sin embargo, gente recta juzgará a esas ciudades hermanas por lo que verdaderamente son: adúlteras y asesinas.

46 »Ahora bien, esto dice el Señor<br /> Soberano: manda a un ejército contra ellas y entrégalas para que las aterroricen y las saqueen.

47 Pues sus enemigos las apedrearán y las matarán a espada. Masacrarán a sus hijos e hijas y quemarán sus casas.

48 De ese modo acabaré con la lascivia y la idolatría en la tierra y mi castigo servirá de advertencia a otros para que no sigan su mal ejemplo.

49 Ustedes recibirán su merecido por su prostitución: por rendir culto a ídolos. Así es, recibirán todo el castigo. Entonces sabrán que yo soy el Señor<br /> Soberano».

1 The word of the LORD came to me:

2 “Son of man, there were two women, daughters of the same mother.

3 They became prostitutes in Egypt, engaging in prostitution from their youth. In that land their breasts were fondled and their virgin bosoms caressed.

4 The older was named Oholah, and her sister was Oholibah. They were mine and gave birth to sons and daughters. Oholah is Samaria, and Oholibah is Jerusalem.

5 “Oholah engaged in prostitution while she was still mine; and she lusted after her lovers, the Assyrians—warriors

6 clothed in blue, governors and commanders, all of them handsome young men, and mounted horsemen.

7 She gave herself as a prostitute to all the elite of the Assyrians and defiled herself with all the idols of everyone she lusted after.

8 She did not give up the prostitution she began in Egypt, when during her youth men slept with her, caressed her virgin bosom and poured out their lust on her.

9 “Therefore I delivered her into the hands of her lovers, the Assyrians, for whom she lusted.

10 They stripped her naked, took away her sons and daughters and killed her with the sword. She became a byword among women, and punishment was inflicted on her.

11 “Her sister Oholibah saw this, yet in her lust and prostitution she was more depraved than her sister.

12 She too lusted after the Assyrians—governors and commanders, warriors in full dress, mounted horsemen, all handsome young men.

13 I saw that she too defiled herself; both of them went the same way.

14 “But she carried her prostitution still further. She saw men portrayed on a wall, figures of Chaldeans portrayed in red,

15 with belts around their waists and flowing turbans on their heads; all of them looked like Babylonian chariot officers, natives of Chaldea.

16 As soon as she saw them, she lusted after them and sent messengers to them in Chaldea.

17 Then the Babylonians came to her, to the bed of love, and in their lust they defiled her. After she had been defiled by them, she turned away from them in disgust.

18 When she carried on her prostitution openly and exposed her naked body, I turned away from her in disgust, just as I had turned away from her sister.

19 Yet she became more and more promiscuous as she recalled the days of her youth, when she was a prostitute in Egypt.

20 There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses.

21 So you longed for the lewdness of your youth, when in Egypt your bosom was caressed and your young breasts fondled.

22 “Therefore, Oholibah, this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I will stir up your lovers against you, those you turned away from in disgust, and I will bring them against you from every side—

23 the Babylonians and all the Chaldeans, the men of Pekod and Shoa and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them, handsome young men, all of them governors and commanders, chariot officers and men of high rank, all mounted on horses.

24 They will come against you with weapons, chariots and wagons and with a throng of people; they will take up positions against you on every side with large and small shields and with helmets. I will turn you over to them for punishment, and they will punish you according to their standards.

25 I will direct my jealous anger against you, and they will deal with you in fury. They will cut off your noses and your ears, and those of you who are left will fall by the sword. They will take away your sons and daughters, and those of you who are left will be consumed by fire.

26 They will also strip you of your clothes and take your fine jewelry.

27 So I will put a stop to the lewdness and prostitution you began in Egypt. You will not look on these things with longing or remember Egypt anymore.

28 “For this is what the Sovereign LORD says: I am about to deliver you into the hands of those you hate, to those you turned away from in disgust.

29 They will deal with you in hatred and take away everything you have worked for. They will leave you stark naked, and the shame of your prostitution will be exposed. Your lewdness and promiscuity

30 have brought this on you, because you lusted after the nations and defiled yourself with their idols.

31 You have gone the way of your sister; so I will put her cup into your hand.

32 “This is what the Sovereign LORD says: “You will drink your sister’s cup, a cup large and deep; it will bring scorn and derision, for it holds so much.

33 You will be filled with drunkenness and sorrow, the cup of ruin and desolation, the cup of your sister Samaria.

34 You will drink it and drain it dry and chew on its pieces— and you will tear your breasts. I have spoken, declares the Sovereign LORD.

35 “Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: Since you have forgotten me and turned your back on me, you must bear the consequences of your lewdness and prostitution.”

36 The LORD said to me: “Son of man, will you judge Oholah and Oholibah? Then confront them with their detestable practices,

37 for they have committed adultery and blood is on their hands. They committed adultery with their idols; they even sacrificed their children, whom they bore to me, as food for them.

38 They have also done this to me: At that same time they defiled my sanctuary and desecrated my Sabbaths.

39 On the very day they sacrificed their children to their idols, they entered my sanctuary and desecrated it. That is what they did in my house.

40 “They even sent messengers for men who came from far away, and when they arrived you bathed yourself for them, applied eye makeup and put on your jewelry.

41 You sat on an elegant couch, with a table spread before it on which you had placed the incense and olive oil that belonged to me.

42 “The noise of a carefree crowd was around her; drunkards were brought from the desert along with men from the rabble, and they put bracelets on the wrists of the woman and her sister and beautiful crowns on their heads.

43 Then I said about the one worn out by adultery, ‘Now let them use her as a prostitute, for that is all she is.’

44 And they slept with her. As men sleep with a prostitute, so they slept with those lewd women, Oholah and Oholibah.

45 But righteous judges will sentence them to the punishment of women who commit adultery and shed blood, because they are adulterous and blood is on their hands.

46 “This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Bring a mob against them and give them over to terror and plunder.

47 The mob will stone them and cut them down with their swords; they will kill their sons and daughters and burn down their houses.

48 “So I will put an end to lewdness in the land, that all women may take warning and not imitate you.

49 You will suffer the penalty for your lewdness and bear the consequences of your sins of idolatry. Then you will know that I am the Sovereign LORD.”
